اسرائیل کے لئے غمزدہ نغمہ
5 اے بنی اسرائیل اس کلام کو جس سے میں تم پر نو حہ کرتا ہوں سنو!
2 اسرائیل کی کنواری گر گئی ہے۔
وہ اب کبھی نہیں اٹھے گی۔
وہ اپنی زمین پر پڑی ہے۔
اس کو اٹھانے وا لا کو ئی نہیں۔
3 میرا مالک خداوند یہ کہتا ہے:
“ہزار سپا ہیوں کے ساتھ شہر چھوڑ نے وا لے افسران
صرف سو سپا ہیوں کے ساتھ لو ٹیں گے۔
اور سو سپا ہیوں کے ساتھ شہر چھوڑ نے وا لے افسران
صرف دس سپا ہیوں کے ساتھ لو ٹیں گے۔
خداوند کا اسرائیل کو اپنے ساتھ لوٹنے کے لئے حوصلہ دینا
4 خداوند اسرائیل کے گھرانے سے یہ کہتا ہے:
“میری کھو ج کر تے آؤ اور زندہ رہو۔
5 لیکن بیت ایل میں مجھے تلاش مت کرو۔
جلجال میں دا خل نہ ہو
اور عبادت کر نے کے لئے بیر سبع کو نہ جا ؤ۔
جلجا ل کے لوگ اسیری میں جا ئے گا
اور بیت ایل تبا ہ ہو گا۔
6 خداوند کے پاس جا ؤ اور زندہ رہو۔
اگر تم خداوند کے یہاں نہیں جا ؤ گے، تو یوسف کے گھر میں آگ لگے گی۔
آگ یو سف کے خاندان کو فنا کرے گی اور بیت ایل میں اسے کو ئی بھی نہیں روک سکے گا۔
7 اے لوگو تم پر مصیبت ہو۔
تم نے اچھا ئی کو کڑوا ہٹ میں بدل دیا۔
تم نے انصاف کو مار دیا
اور دھول میں پھینک دیا ہے۔
8 تجھے مدد کے لئے خداوند کے پاس جانا چا ہئے۔
یہ وہی ہے جس نے ثرّیا اور جبّار کو بنایا۔
اس نے اندھیرے کو دن میں، اور دن کی روشنی کو اندھیرے بدل دیتا ہے۔
وہ سمندر کے پانی کو بلا تا ہے اور روئے زمین پر پھیلا تا ہے
اسکا نام خداوند ہے۔”
9 وہ قلعہ دار شہر وں کے مضبوط محلوں کو ڈھا دیتا ہے۔
بُرے کام جسے اسرائیلیوں نے کئے
10 اگر کو ئی شخص سماجی جگہوں پر جا تے ہیں اور ان بُرے کا موں کے خلاف بولتے ہیں جنہیں لوگ کیا کر تے ہیں۔ لوگ ان سے نفرت کر تے ہیں۔
وہ سچ کہتا ہے۔ لیکن لوگ اس سے سخت نفرت کر تے ہیں۔
11 تم مسکینوں کو پامال کر تے ہو
اور ظلم کر کے ان سے گیہوں چھین لیتے ہو۔
اور اس دولت کا استعمال تم ترا شے ہو ئے پتھروں سے خوبصورت محل بنانے میں کر تے ہو
لیکن تم ان محلوں میں نہیں رہو گے
اور جو نفیس تاکستان تم نے لگا ئے
ان کی مئے نہ پیو گے۔
12 کیونکہ میں تمہا رے بے شمار خطاؤں اور تمہارے بڑے بڑے گنا ہو ں سے واقف ہوں۔
تم صادق کو ستا تے ہو اور رشوت لیتے ہو
اور پھاٹک میں غریبوں کی حق تلفی کر تے ہو۔
13 اس وقت دانشمند چپ رہیں گے۔
کیوں؟ کیون کہ یہ بُرا وقت ہے۔
14 تم کہتے ہو کہ خدا ہمارے ساتھ ہے۔
اسلئے اچھے کام کرو، بُرے نہیں،
تب تم زندہ رہو گے
اور خداوند خدا قادر مطلق سچ ہی تمہا رے ساتھ ہو گا۔
15 بُرا ئی سے نفرت کرو۔اچھا ئی سے محبت کرو۔
عدالتوں میں عدل وا پس لا ؤ
اور تب شاید کہ خداوند خدا قادر مطلق
یوسف کے بچے ہو ئے گھرانے کے لوگوں پر رحم کریگا۔
بہت بڑا ماتم کے وقت کا آنا
16 یہی سبب ہے کہ میرا مالک خداوند قادر مطلق یہ کہہ رہا ہے،
“سب بازاروں میں نوحہ ہو گا
اور سب گلیوں میں افسوس افسوس! چلا ئیں گے
اور ان کو جو نوحہ گری میں مہارت رکھتے ہیں نوحہ کے لئے بھاڑے پر بلا ئے جا ئیں گے۔
17 لوگ سب تاکستانوں میں رو ئیں گے کیوں؟
کیوں کہ میں وہاں سے نکلونگا اور تمہیں سزادونگا۔”
خداوند نے یہ سب کہا ہے۔
18 تم میں سے کچھ
خداوند کے انصاف کے خصوصی دن کو دیکھنا چا ہتے ہیں۔
تم اس دن کو کیوں دیکھنا چا ہتے ہو؟
خداوند کا خصوصی دن تمہا رے لئے تاریکی لا ئے گا،روشنی نہیں۔
19 تم اس شخص کی مانند ہو جو شیر کی نظروں سے اپنی جان بچا کر بھاگ جا تا ہے
لیکن ریچھ کا اس پر حملہ ہو تا ہے۔
یا پھر اس شخص کی مانند جو سہا رے کیلئے دیوار میں ٹیک لگا تا ہے
لیکن سانپ اسے ڈنس لیتا ہے۔
20 یقیناً خداوند کا دن روشنی کے بجائے اندھیرا ہو گا۔
بلکہ سخت تاریکی ہو گی اور روشنی کی چمک بالکل نہیں ہو گی۔
خداوند کا بنی اسرائیلیوں کی عبادت کو رد کرنا
21 “میں تمہا ری تقريبوں سے نفرت کر تا ہوں
اور میں تمہا ری مقدس محفلوں سے بھی خوش نہ ہونگا۔
22 اور اگر چہ تم جلانے کی قربانیاں اور اناج کی قربانیاں پیش کرو تو بھی میں ان کو قبول نہ کرونگا۔
اور تمہا رے فربہ جانوروں کی ہمدردی کی قربانیو ں کو خاطر میں نہ لا ؤنگا۔
23 تم یہاں سے اپنے شور وغل وا لے گیتوں کو دور کرو،
میں تمہا رے بگل کی آواز نہ سنوں گا۔
24 تمہیں اپنے سارے ملک میں عدالت کو ندی کی طرح بہنے دینا چا ہئے
اور صداقت کو بڑی نہر کی مانند بہنے دو جو کبھی نہیں سو کھتی۔
25 اے اسرائیل! کیا تم نے چالیس برس تک بیابان میں
میرے حضور تحفہ کے طو ر پر قربانی پیش کی؟
26 تم تو ملکوم کا خیمہ اور کیوان کے بت
جو تم نے اپنے لئے بنا ئے اٹھا ئے پھر تے تھے۔
27 اسلئے میں تمہیں قیدی بنا کر دمشق کے پار پہنچا ؤنگا۔”
یہ سب خداوند کہتا ہے۔
اس کا نام خدا قادر مطلق ہے۔

A Lament and Call to Repentance
5 Hear this word, Israel, this lament(A) I take up concerning you:
2 “Fallen is Virgin(B) Israel,
never to rise again,
deserted in her own land,
with no one to lift her up.(C)”
3 This is what the Sovereign Lord says to Israel:
“Your city that marches out a thousand strong
will have only a hundred left;
your town that marches out a hundred strong
will have only ten left.(D)”
4 This is what the Lord says to Israel:
“Seek(E) me and live;(F)
5 do not seek Bethel,
do not go to Gilgal,(G)
do not journey to Beersheba.(H)
For Gilgal will surely go into exile,
and Bethel will be reduced to nothing.[a](I)”
6 Seek(J) the Lord and live,(K)
or he will sweep through the tribes of Joseph like a fire;(L)
it will devour them,
and Bethel(M) will have no one to quench it.(N)
8 He who made the Pleiades and Orion,(R)
who turns midnight into dawn(S)
and darkens day into night,(T)
who calls for the waters of the sea
and pours them out over the face of the land—
the Lord is his name.(U)
9 With a blinding flash he destroys the stronghold
and brings the fortified city to ruin.(V)
10 There are those who hate the one who upholds justice in court(W)
and detest the one who tells the truth.(X)
11 You levy a straw tax on the poor(Y)
and impose a tax on their grain.
Therefore, though you have built stone mansions,(Z)
you will not live in them;(AA)
though you have planted lush vineyards,
you will not drink their wine.(AB)
12 For I know how many are your offenses
and how great your sins.(AC)
There are those who oppress the innocent and take bribes(AD)
and deprive the poor(AE) of justice in the courts.(AF)
13 Therefore the prudent keep quiet(AG) in such times,
for the times are evil.(AH)
14 Seek good, not evil,
that you may live.(AI)
Then the Lord God Almighty will be with you,
just as you say he is.
15 Hate evil,(AJ) love good;(AK)
maintain justice in the courts.(AL)
Perhaps(AM) the Lord God Almighty will have mercy(AN)
on the remnant(AO) of Joseph.
16 Therefore this is what the Lord, the Lord God Almighty, says:
“There will be wailing(AP) in all the streets(AQ)
and cries of anguish in every public square.
The farmers(AR) will be summoned to weep
and the mourners to wail.
17 There will be wailing(AS) in all the vineyards,
for I will pass through(AT) your midst,”
says the Lord.(AU)
The Day of the Lord
18 Woe to you who long
for the day of the Lord!(AV)
Why do you long for the day of the Lord?(AW)
That day will be darkness,(AX) not light.(AY)
19 It will be as though a man fled from a lion
only to meet a bear,(AZ)
as though he entered his house
and rested his hand on the wall
only to have a snake bite him.(BA)
20 Will not the day of the Lord be darkness,(BB) not light—
pitch-dark, without a ray of brightness?(BC)
21 “I hate,(BD) I despise your religious festivals;(BE)
your assemblies(BF) are a stench to me.
22 Even though you bring me burnt offerings(BG) and grain offerings,
I will not accept them.(BH)
Though you bring choice fellowship offerings,
I will have no regard for them.(BI)
23 Away with the noise of your songs!
I will not listen to the music of your harps.(BJ)
24 But let justice(BK) roll on like a river,
righteousness(BL) like a never-failing stream!(BM)
25 “Did you bring me sacrifices(BN) and offerings
forty years(BO) in the wilderness, people of Israel?
26 You have lifted up the shrine of your king,
the pedestal of your idols,(BP)
the star of your god[b]—
which you made for yourselves.
27 Therefore I will send you into exile(BQ) beyond Damascus,”
says the Lord, whose name is God Almighty.(BR)

5 Hear ye this word which I take up against you, even a lamentation, O house of Israel.
2 The virgin of Israel is fallen; she shall no more rise: she is forsaken upon her land; there is none to raise her up.
3 For thus saith the Lord God; The city that went out by a thousand shall leave an hundred, and that which went forth by an hundred shall leave ten, to the house of Israel.
4 For thus saith the Lord unto the house of Israel, Seek ye me, and ye shall live:
5 But seek not Bethel, nor enter into Gilgal, and pass not to Beersheba: for Gilgal shall surely go into captivity, and Bethel shall come to nought.
6 Seek the Lord, and ye shall live; lest he break out like fire in the house of Joseph, and devour it, and there be none to quench it in Bethel.
7 Ye who turn judgment to wormwood, and leave off righteousness in the earth,
8 Seek him that maketh the seven stars and Orion, and turneth the shadow of death into the morning, and maketh the day dark with night: that calleth for the waters of the sea, and poureth them out upon the face of the earth: The Lord is his name:
9 That strengtheneth the spoiled against the strong, so that the spoiled shall come against the fortress.
10 They hate him that rebuketh in the gate, and they abhor him that speaketh uprightly.
11 Forasmuch therefore as your treading is upon the poor, and ye take from him burdens of wheat: ye have built houses of hewn stone, but ye shall not dwell in them; ye have planted pleasant vineyards, but ye shall not drink wine of them.
12 For I know your manifold transgressions and your mighty sins: they afflict the just, they take a bribe, and they turn aside the poor in the gate from their right.
13 Therefore the prudent shall keep silence in that time; for it is an evil time.
14 Seek good, and not evil, that ye may live: and so the Lord, the God of hosts, shall be with you, as ye have spoken.
15 Hate the evil, and love the good, and establish judgment in the gate: it may be that the Lord God of hosts will be gracious unto the remnant of Joseph.
16 Therefore the Lord, the God of hosts, the Lord, saith thus; Wailing shall be in all streets; and they shall say in all the highways, Alas! alas! and they shall call the husbandman to mourning, and such as are skilful of lamentation to wailing.
17 And in all vineyards shall be wailing: for I will pass through thee, saith the Lord.
18 Woe unto you that desire the day of the Lord! to what end is it for you? the day of the Lord is darkness, and not light.
19 As if a man did flee from a lion, and a bear met him; or went into the house, and leaned his hand on the wall, and a serpent bit him.
20 Shall not the day of the Lord be darkness, and not light? even very dark, and no brightness in it?
21 I hate, I despise your feast days, and I will not smell in your solemn assemblies.
22 Though ye offer me burnt offerings and your meat offerings, I will not accept them: neither will I regard the peace offerings of your fat beasts.
23 Take thou away from me the noise of thy songs; for I will not hear the melody of thy viols.
24 But let judgment run down as waters, and righteousness as a mighty stream.
25 Have ye offered unto me sacrifices and offerings in the wilderness forty years, O house of Israel?
26 But ye have borne the tabernacle of your Moloch and Chiun your images, the star of your god, which ye made to yourselves.
27 Therefore will I cause you to go into captivity beyond Damascus, saith the Lord, whose name is The God of hosts.
