یسوع ہمارا اعلیٰ کا ہن ہے
8 یہاں ایک نکتہ کی بات ہے جو ہم کہہ رہے ہیں۔ ہمارا ایک ایسا اعلیٰ کاہن ہے جو آسمان میں خدا کے تخت کے داہنی جانب بیٹھے ہیں۔ 2 ہما را اعلیٰ کاہن خدا کی خدمت مقدس اور سچی عبادت کی جگہ کرتا ہے اسے خداوند نے خود ہی بنا یا ہے آدمی نے نہیں۔
3 ہر اعلی ٰ کاہن تحفے اور قربانیاں پیش کر نے کے وا سطے مقرر ہو ئے ہیں۔ ہما رے اعلیٰ کاہن کو بھی چاہئے کہ کچھ بھی نذرا نہ پیش کرے۔ 4 اگر وہ زمین پر ہو تے تو وہ نذرانہ پیش کرنے کے لئے کا ہن نہ ہو تے جیسا شریعت نے پہلے ہی کاہن کو اس کام کے لئے مقرر کردیا ہے۔ 5 جو کا م یہ کا ہن کرتے ہیں بالکل ان چیزوں کی نقل ہے جو آسمان میں ہیں اس لئے خدا نے موسیٰ کو انتباہ کیا تھا جب وہ مقدس خیمہ قائم کر نے کیلئےتیار تھا تو اسے یہ ہدایت ہو ئی کہ دیکھ، “جونمو نہ تجھے پہا ڑ پر دکھا یا گیا تھا اسی کے مطا بق سب چیزیں بنا نا۔” [a] 6 جو کام یسوع کو دیا گیا وہ ان دوسرے کا ہنوں کے کام سے بھی اعلیٰ تھا اس سے جو عہد نا مہ جس کے لئے یسوع ثا لث ہے وہ قدیم سے بر تر اور اچھی چیزوں کے وعدوں پر مشتمل ہے۔
7 اگر پہلے عہد نا مہ میں کچھ غلطی نہیں تھی تو پھر دوسرے عہد نامہ کو اس کی جگہ لینے کا سبب نہ تھا۔ 8 لیکن خدا کچھ نقائص لوگوں میں پا کر یہ کہتا ہے:
“خدا وند کہتا ہے کہ وقت آرہا ہے،
جب میں نیا عہدنامہ دوں گا جو بنی اسرائیلیوں اور یہوداہ کے لوگوں کے ساتھ ہو گا۔
9 اور یہ اسی عہدنامہ کی مانند نہ ہوگا جو میں نے ان کے باپ دادا کو دیا تھا
وہ جو عہدنامہ میں نے اس دن دیاتھا جب انہیں ملک مصر سے نکالنے کے لئے ان کا ہاتھ تھا
وہ اپنے عہد نامہ کے مطا بق قائم نہیں تھے جو میں نے انہیں دیا تھا
اور میں نے ان سے اپنا رخ پھیر لیا۔
10 پھر خدا وند فرما تا ہے کہ
جو نیا عہد نامہ اسرائیل کے گھرانے سے مستقبل میں باندھوں گا
وہ یہ ہے کہ میں اپنے قانون کو ان کے ذہن میں ڈالوں گا۔
اور ان کے دلوں پر لکھوں گا
اور میں ان کا خدا ہوں گا
اور وہ میرے لوگ ہوں گے۔
11 اور کو ئی بھی شخص اپنے ہم وطن اور اپنے بھا ئی کو یہ تعلیم نہ دے گا کہ تو ’خداو ندکو پہچان‘ کیوں کہ
ہر شخص چاہے چھوٹے ہوں یا بڑے ہوں سب مجھے جان لیں گے۔
12 اس لئے کہ میں ان کی برا ئیوں کو معاف کروں گا
اور ان کے گناہوں کو پھر کبھی یاد نہ کروں گا” [b]
13 جب خدا نے اپنا نیا عہد نا مہ کہا تو پہلے عہدنا مہ کو پرانا ٹھہرا یا۔ اور کو ئی بھی چیز جو پرا نی اور بیکا ر ہو جائے تو وہ مٹنے کی قریب ہوتی ہے۔

The High Priest of a New Covenant
8 Now the main point of what we are saying is this: We do have such a high priest,(A) who sat down at the right hand of the throne of the Majesty in heaven,(B) 2 and who serves in the sanctuary, the true tabernacle(C) set up by the Lord, not by a mere human being.
3 Every high priest(D) is appointed to offer both gifts and sacrifices,(E) and so it was necessary for this one also to have something to offer.(F) 4 If he were on earth, he would not be a priest, for there are already priests who offer the gifts prescribed by the law.(G) 5 They serve at a sanctuary that is a copy(H) and shadow(I) of what is in heaven. This is why Moses was warned(J) when he was about to build the tabernacle: “See to it that you make everything according to the pattern shown you on the mountain.”[a](K) 6 But in fact the ministry Jesus has received is as superior to theirs as the covenant(L) of which he is mediator(M) is superior to the old one, since the new covenant is established on better promises.
7 For if there had been nothing wrong with that first covenant, no place would have been sought for another.(N) 8 But God found fault with the people and said[b]:
“The days are coming, declares the Lord,
when I will make a new covenant(O)
with the people of Israel
and with the people of Judah.
9 It will not be like the covenant
I made with their ancestors(P)
when I took them by the hand
to lead them out of Egypt,
because they did not remain faithful to my covenant,
and I turned away from them,
declares the Lord.
10 This is the covenant(Q) I will establish with the people of Israel
after that time, declares the Lord.
I will put my laws in their minds
and write them on their hearts.(R)
I will be their God,
and they will be my people.(S)
11 No longer will they teach their neighbor,
or say to one another, ‘Know the Lord,’
because they will all know me,(T)
from the least of them to the greatest.
12 For I will forgive their wickedness
and will remember their sins no more.(U)”[c](V)
13 By calling this covenant “new,”(W) he has made the first one obsolete;(X) and what is obsolete and outdated will soon disappear.
