ٹڈیاں فصلوں کو برباد کر ديں گی
1 یوئیل بن فتو ایل نے خداوند سے اس پیغام کو حاصل کیا:
2 اے بزرگو! اس پیغام کو سنو!
اے زمین کے سب باشندو!سنو۔
کیا تمہا رے یا تمہارے باپ دادا کے ایّام میں
کبھی کو ئی ایسی بات ہو ئی ہے؟
3 تم اس کے بارے میں اپنے بچوں کو بتا ؤ
اور تمہارے بچے یہ باتیں اپنے بچوں کو ضرور بتا ئیں
اور ان کے بچے یہ باتیں اپنی نسل کو ضرور بتا ئے۔
4 جو کچھ کاٹنے وا لی ٹڈیوں سے بچا
اسے ٹڈوں کے جھنڈ نے کھا لیا،
جو کچھ ٹڈیوں کے جھنڈ سے بچا
اچھلنے والی ٹڈیوں نے کھا لیا،
اُ چھلنے وا لی ٹڈیوں سے جو بچا
اسے برباد کرنے وا لی ٹڈیوں نے کھا یا۔
ٹڈیوں کی آمد
5 اے نشے باز! جا گو اور روؤ۔
مئے نو شی کرنے وا لو میٹھی مئے کیلئے چلاؤ
کیوں کہ وہ تمہا رے منہ سے چھنی گئی ہے۔
6 کیونکہ میری زمین پر ٹڈیو ں کی فوج نے حملہ کیا ہے
اور وہ زور آور اور بے شمار ہے۔
ان کے دانت شیر ببر کی طرح
اور انکی جبڑا شیرنی کی طرح ہے۔
7 اس نے میرے انگور کی بیل کو تباہ کر دیا
اور میرے انجیر کے پیڑ کو کاٹ ڈا لا
اسنے چھا لوں کو چھیل ڈا لا، اور اسے دور پھینک دیا۔
انگور کے بیل سفید ہو گئے ہیں۔
لوگوں کی چیخ و پکار
8 اس طرح ماتم کرو جس طرح جوان دلہن
ٹاٹ اوڑھ کر جوان شو ہر کے لئے ماتم کرتی ہے۔
9 خداوند کے گھر میں اناج اور مئے کا نذرانہ اب اور پیش نہیں کیا جا تا۔
کا ہن جو کہ خداوند کا وزیر ہے ماتم کر تے ہیں۔
10 کھیت برباد ہو گئے ہیں
اور زمین ماتم کر تی ہے کیونکہ اناج برباد ہوا ہے۔
نئی مئے سو کھ گئی
اور زیتون کا تیل خالی ہو گیا ہے۔
11 اے کسانو! دُکھی ہو
انگور کے باغبانو!
گیہوں اور جوَ کے لئے چلا ؤ
کیوں کہ کھیت کی فصل برباد ہو ئی ہے۔
12 انگور کی بیلیں سو کھ گئی ہیں
اور انجیر کے پیڑ مر جھا رہے ہیں۔
انار کے پیڑ کھجور کے پیڑ اور سیب کے پیڑ سبھی مرجھا گئے ہیں
کیونکہ لوگوں سے خوشی جا تی رہی ہے۔
13 اے کا ہنو! ٹاٹ اوڑھ لو! اور ماتم کرو۔
اے قربان گا ہ پر خدمت کر نے وا لو چلاؤ!
تم میرے خدا کے وزیر آؤ!اور ٹاٹ اوڑھ کر رات گذارو
کیوں کہ ہیکل میں اناج اور پینے کا نذرانہ موقوف ہو گیا۔
بھیانک تبا ہی
14 روزہ کیلئے ایک دن مقرر کرو، تقریب کی محفل بلا ؤ۔ بزرگوں کو اور ملکوں کے تمام باشندوں کو خداوند اپنے خداوند کے ہیکل میں ایک ساتھ جمع کر اور بلند آواز سے خداوند سے فریاد کر۔
15 کیسا افسوس ناک دن ہے کیوں کہ خداوند کے فیصلے کا دن نزدیک آگیا ہے۔ یہ وہی دن ہے جس دن خداوند قادر مطلق کی طرف سے بربادی آئے گی۔ 16 ہم لوگوں نے اپنی آنکھوں سے دیکھا کہ کیسے ہمارا کھانا تبا ہ ہوا اور ہم لوگوں نے دھیان دیا تو محسوس کیا کہ ہمارے خداوند کے گھر سے خوشی اور شادمانی چلی گئی ہے۔
17 بیج مٹی کے ڈھیلوں کے نیچے مرجھا گئے ہیں، گودام خالی ہو گئے۔غلّہ خانہ کھنڈر ہو گئے کیوں کہ اناج سو کھ گئے۔
18 حیوان کیسے کراہ رہے ہیں!مویشی کے جھنڈ کیسے ابتری میں ادھر اُدھر بھٹک رہے ہیں۔ انکے چرنے کے لئے گھاس نہیں ہے۔ بھیڑوں کے جھنڈ بھی اس میں مبتلا ہے۔ 19 تمہا رے پاس اے خداوند میں رو تا ہوں۔ کیونکہ آگ نے بیابان کی چراگاہوں کو جلا دیا۔ اور شعلوں نے سب درختوں کو راکھ کر دیاہے۔ 20 جنگلی جانور بھی تیرے پاس مدد کے لئے رو تے ہیں پانی کا سارا منبع سو کھ گیا ہے اور آگ نے بیابان کی چراگاہو ں کو جلا دیا ہے۔

1 The word of the Lord that came(A) to Joel(B) son of Pethuel.
An Invasion of Locusts
2 Hear this,(C) you elders;(D)
listen, all who live in the land.(E)
Has anything like this ever happened in your days
or in the days of your ancestors?(F)
3 Tell it to your children,(G)
and let your children tell it to their children,
and their children to the next generation.(H)
4 What the locust(I) swarm has left
the great locusts have eaten;
what the great locusts have left
the young locusts have eaten;
what the young locusts have left(J)
other locusts[a] have eaten.(K)
5 Wake up, you drunkards, and weep!
Wail, all you drinkers of wine;(L)
wail because of the new wine,
for it has been snatched(M) from your lips.
6 A nation has invaded my land,
a mighty army without number;(N)
it has the teeth(O) of a lion,
the fangs of a lioness.
7 It has laid waste(P) my vines
and ruined my fig trees.(Q)
It has stripped off their bark
and thrown it away,
leaving their branches white.
8 Mourn like a virgin in sackcloth(R)
grieving for the betrothed of her youth.
9 Grain offerings and drink offerings(S)
are cut off from the house of the Lord.
The priests are in mourning,(T)
those who minister before the Lord.
10 The fields are ruined,
the ground is dried up;(U)
the grain is destroyed,
the new wine(V) is dried up,
the olive oil fails.(W)
11 Despair, you farmers,(X)
wail, you vine growers;
grieve for the wheat and the barley,(Y)
because the harvest of the field is destroyed.(Z)
12 The vine is dried up
and the fig tree is withered;(AA)
the pomegranate,(AB) the palm and the apple[b] tree—
all the trees of the field—are dried up.(AC)
Surely the people’s joy
is withered away.
A Call to Lamentation
13 Put on sackcloth,(AD) you priests, and mourn;
wail, you who minister(AE) before the altar.
Come, spend the night in sackcloth,
you who minister before my God;
for the grain offerings and drink offerings(AF)
are withheld from the house of your God.
14 Declare a holy fast;(AG)
call a sacred assembly.
Summon the elders
and all who live in the land(AH)
to the house of the Lord your God,
and cry out(AI) to the Lord.(AJ)
15 Alas for that(AK) day!
For the day of the Lord(AL) is near;
it will come like destruction from the Almighty.[c](AM)
16 Has not the food been cut off(AN)
before our very eyes—
joy and gladness(AO)
from the house of our God?(AP)
17 The seeds are shriveled
beneath the clods.[d](AQ)
The storehouses are in ruins,
the granaries have been broken down,
for the grain has dried up.
18 How the cattle moan!
The herds mill about
because they have no pasture;(AR)
even the flocks of sheep are suffering.(AS)

1 The word of the Lord that came to Joel the son of Pethuel.
2 Hear this, ye old men, and give ear, all ye inhabitants of the land. Hath this been in your days, or even in the days of your fathers?
3 Tell ye your children of it, and let your children tell their children, and their children another generation.
4 That which the palmerworm hath left hath the locust eaten; and that which the locust hath left hath the cankerworm eaten; and that which the cankerworm hath left hath the caterpiller eaten.
5 Awake, ye drunkards, and weep; and howl, all ye drinkers of wine, because of the new wine; for it is cut off from your mouth.
6 For a nation is come up upon my land, strong, and without number, whose teeth are the teeth of a lion, and he hath the cheek teeth of a great lion.
7 He hath laid my vine waste, and barked my fig tree: he hath made it clean bare, and cast it away; the branches thereof are made white.
8 Lament like a virgin girded with sackcloth for the husband of her youth.
9 The meat offering and the drink offering is cut off from the house of the Lord; the priests, the Lord's ministers, mourn.
10 The field is wasted, the land mourneth; for the corn is wasted: the new wine is dried up, the oil languisheth.
11 Be ye ashamed, O ye husbandmen; howl, O ye vinedressers, for the wheat and for the barley; because the harvest of the field is perished.
12 The vine is dried up, and the fig tree languisheth; the pomegranate tree, the palm tree also, and the apple tree, even all the trees of the field, are withered: because joy is withered away from the sons of men.
13 Gird yourselves, and lament, ye priests: howl, ye ministers of the altar: come, lie all night in sackcloth, ye ministers of my God: for the meat offering and the drink offering is withholden from the house of your God.
14 Sanctify ye a fast, call a solemn assembly, gather the elders and all the inhabitants of the land into the house of the Lord your God, and cry unto the Lord,
15 Alas for the day! for the day of the Lord is at hand, and as a destruction from the Almighty shall it come.
16 Is not the meat cut off before our eyes, yea, joy and gladness from the house of our God?
17 The seed is rotten under their clods, the garners are laid desolate, the barns are broken down; for the corn is withered.
18 How do the beasts groan! the herds of cattle are perplexed, because they have no pasture; yea, the flocks of sheep are made desolate.
19 O Lord, to thee will I cry: for the fire hath devoured the pastures of the wilderness, and the flame hath burned all the trees of the field.
20 The beasts of the field cry also unto thee: for the rivers of waters are dried up, and the fire hath devoured the pastures of the wilderness.
