आदमको पारिवारिक इतिहास
5 आदमको परिवारको विषयमा लेखिएको इतिहास यही हो। परमेश्वरले मानिसको सृष्टि गर्दा आफ्नै प्रतिरुपमा मानिसजातिको[a] सृष्टि गर्नुभयो। 2 परमेश्वरले मानिसलाई पुरूष र स्त्री दुइ रुपमा सृष्टि गर्नुभयो। जब उहाँले तिनीहरूलाई सृष्टि गर्नुभयो तिनीहरूलाई आशिष दिनु भयो अनि तिनीहरूलाई “मानिस” भन्नुभयो।
3 जब आदम 130 बर्षको वृद्ध भएका थिए, तिनको फेरि अर्को एउटा छोरो जन्मियो र उनले छोरोको नाउँ सेत राख्यो। 4 सेतको जन्म भएपछि आदम अझ 800 बर्ष सम्म जीवित रहे अनि उनको अरू पनि छोरा-छोरीहरू भए। 5 आदम 930 बर्षसम्म बाँचे र मरे।
6 जब सेत 105 बर्षको भए तब उनको एउटा छोरो जन्मियो जसको नाउँ उनले एनोश राखे। 7 एनोश जन्मेपछि सेत 807 बर्षसम्म जीवित रहे र यो समयमा सेतका अरू छोरा-छोरीहरू जन्मे। 8 यसर्थ सेत जम्मा 912 बर्षसम्म बाँचे र मरे।
9 एनोशको उमेर 90 बर्षको भएपछि उनको एउटा छोरो जन्मियो जसको नाउँ केनान राखियो। 10 केनान जन्मेपछि एनोश 815 बर्ष सम्म बाँचे। यो समयमा एनोशका अरू छोरा-छोरीहरू पनि जन्मे 11 यसर्थ एनोश जम्मा 905 बर्ष बाँचे र मरे।
12 केनान 70 बर्ष पुगेपछि उसको एउटा छोरा जन्मियो, उनले छोरोको नाउँ महलेल राखे। 13 महलेलले जन्म लिएपछि केनान 840 बर्ष उमेरसम्म बाँचे। त्यस समयमा केनानका आठ छोरा-छोरीहरूले पनि जन्म लिए 14 यसर्थ केनान 910 बर्ष सम्म बाँचे र मरे।
15 जब महलेल 65 बर्षको भयो उसको एउटा छोरो जन्मियो जसको नाउँ येरेद राखियो। 16 येरेद जन्मेपछि महलेल 830 बर्ष सम्म बाँचे र त्यस अवधिमा उसका धेरै छोरा-छोरीहरू जन्मे। 17 यसर्थ महलेल जम्मा 895 बर्ष सम्म बाँचे र मरे।
18 जब येरेद 162 बर्ष पुगे उनको एउटा छोरो जन्मियो जसको नाउँ हनोक राखिय। 19 हनोक जन्मिएपछि येरेद 800 बर्ष सम्म बाँचे। यस अवधिमा येरेदका अरू छोरा-छोरीहरू भए। 20 यसर्थ येरेद जम्मा 962 बर्षसम्म बाँचे।
21 जब हनोक 65 बर्ष पुगे उनको एउटा छोरो जन्मियो जसको नाउँ मतूशेलह राखियो। 22 मतूशेलह जन्मेपछि हनोक 300 बर्ष सम्म परमेश्वरको पछि-पछि हिंडिरहे। यस अवधिमा उसको अरू छोरा-छोरीहरू जन्मे। 23 यसर्थ हनोक 365 बर्ष सम्म बाँचे। 24 एक दिन हनोक परमेश्वरसित हिंडिरहेको समयमा हनोक हराए। परमेश्वरले उसलाई जिउँदै स्वर्ग लानु भयो।
25 जब मतूशेलह 186 बर्षको थिए उनको एउटा छोरो जन्मियो जसको नाउँ लेमेक राखियो। 26 लेमेक जन्मिएपछि मतूशेलह 682 बर्ष सम्म बाँचे। यस अवधि भित्र उनको अन्य छोरा-छोरीहरू पनि जन्मे। 27 यसर्थ मतूशेलह 969 बर्ष सम्म बाँचे।
28 जब लेमेक 182 बर्षको थिए उनको एउटा छोरा जन्मियो। 29 उनले आफ्नो छोरोको नाउँ नूह राखे। उनले भने, “यसले हाम्रो काममा विश्राम देओस्। परमेश्वरले भूमिलाई श्राप दिनु भएकोले हामी खेतीको लागि कठिन परिश्रम गर्छौ। तर नूहले हामीलाई विश्राम दिनु हुनेछ।”
30 नूह जन्मेपछि लेमेक 595 बर्षसम्म जीवित रहे। त्यस अवधिमा उनका अरू छोरा-छोरीहरू जन्मे। 31 लेमेक जम्मा 777 बर्षसम्मा बाँचे।
32 नूह 500 बर्ष पुगेपछि उनको शेम, हाम र येपेत नाउँ भएका छोराहरू जन्मे।

From Adam to Noah
5 This is the written account(A) of Adam’s family line.(B)
When God created mankind, he made them in the likeness of God.(C) 2 He created them(D) male and female(E) and blessed them. And he named them “Mankind”[a] when they were created.
3 When Adam had lived 130 years, he had a son in his own likeness, in his own image;(F) and he named him Seth.(G) 4 After Seth was born, Adam lived 800 years and had other sons and daughters. 5 Altogether, Adam lived a total of 930 years, and then he died.(H)
6 When Seth had lived 105 years, he became the father[b] of Enosh.(I) 7 After he became the father of Enosh, Seth lived 807 years and had other sons and daughters. 8 Altogether, Seth lived a total of 912 years, and then he died.
9 When Enosh had lived 90 years, he became the father of Kenan.(J) 10 After he became the father of Kenan, Enosh lived 815 years and had other sons and daughters. 11 Altogether, Enosh lived a total of 905 years, and then he died.
12 When Kenan had lived 70 years, he became the father of Mahalalel.(K) 13 After he became the father of Mahalalel, Kenan lived 840 years and had other sons and daughters. 14 Altogether, Kenan lived a total of 910 years, and then he died.
15 When Mahalalel had lived 65 years, he became the father of Jared.(L) 16 After he became the father of Jared, Mahalalel lived 830 years and had other sons and daughters. 17 Altogether, Mahalalel lived a total of 895 years, and then he died.
18 When Jared had lived 162 years, he became the father of Enoch.(M) 19 After he became the father of Enoch, Jared lived 800 years and had other sons and daughters. 20 Altogether, Jared lived a total of 962 years, and then he died.
21 When Enoch had lived 65 years, he became the father of Methuselah.(N) 22 After he became the father of Methuselah, Enoch walked faithfully with God(O) 300 years and had other sons and daughters. 23 Altogether, Enoch lived a total of 365 years. 24 Enoch walked faithfully with God;(P) then he was no more, because God took him away.(Q)
25 When Methuselah had lived 187 years, he became the father of Lamech.(R) 26 After he became the father of Lamech, Methuselah lived 782 years and had other sons and daughters. 27 Altogether, Methuselah lived a total of 969 years, and then he died.
28 When Lamech had lived 182 years, he had a son. 29 He named him Noah[c](S) and said, “He will comfort us in the labor and painful toil of our hands caused by the ground the Lord has cursed.(T)” 30 After Noah was born, Lamech lived 595 years and had other sons and daughters. 31 Altogether, Lamech lived a total of 777 years, and then he died.
32 After Noah was 500 years old,(U) he became the father of Shem,(V) Ham and Japheth.(W)
