12 [a]Wherefore, let him that thinketh he standeth, take heed lest he fall.
13 There hath no temptation taken you, but such as appertaineth to [b]man: and God is faithful, which will not suffer you to be tempted above that you be able, but will even [c]give the issue with the temptation, that ye may be able to bear it.
14 Wherefore my beloved, flee from idolatry.

Yet he useth an insinuation, and comforteth them, that he may not seem to make them altogether like to those wicked idolaters and contemners of Christ, which perished in the wilderness.

12 So, if you think you are standing firm,(A) be careful that you don’t fall! 13 No temptation[a] has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful;(B) he will not let you be tempted[b] beyond what you can bear.(C) But when you are tempted,[c] he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it.
