3 For the time that is past (A)suffices (B)for doing what the Gentiles want to do, living in sensuality, passions, drunkenness, orgies, drinking parties, and lawless idolatry. 4 With respect to this they are surprised when you do not join them in the same flood of (C)debauchery, and (D)they malign you; 5 but they will give account to him who is ready (E)to judge the living and the dead.

3 For you have spent enough time in the past(A) doing what pagans choose to do—living in debauchery, lust, drunkenness, orgies, carousing and detestable idolatry.(B) 4 They are surprised that you do not join them in their reckless, wild living, and they heap abuse on you.(C) 5 But they will have to give account to him who is ready to judge the living and the dead.(D)

4 Wherein they think it strange that ye run not with them to the same excess of riot, speaking evil of you:
5 Who shall give account to him that is ready to judge the quick and the dead.
