25 Then Samuel told the people (A)the rights and duties of the kingship, and he wrote them in a book and laid it up before the Lord. Then Samuel sent all the people away, each one to his home.

New International Version
25 Samuel explained(A) to the people the rights and duties(B) of kingship.(C) He wrote them down on a scroll and deposited it before the Lord. Then Samuel dismissed the people to go to their own homes.
Deuteronomy 17:16-20

16 Only he must not acquire many (A)horses for himself or cause the people (B)to return to Egypt in order to acquire many horses, since the Lord has said to you, (C)‘You shall never return that way again.’ 17 And he (D)shall not acquire many wives for himself, lest his heart turn away, (E)nor shall he acquire for himself excessive silver and gold.
18 “And when he sits on the throne of his kingdom, (F)he shall write for himself in a book a copy of this law, (G)approved by[a] the Levitical priests. 19 And (H)it shall be with him, and he shall read in it all the days of his life, (I)that he may learn to fear the Lord his God by keeping all the words of this law and these statutes, and doing them, 20 that his heart may not be lifted up above his brothers, and that he (J)may not turn aside from the commandment, either to the right hand or to the left, (K)so that he may continue long in his kingdom, he and his children, in Israel.

Deuteronomy 17:16-20
New International Version
16 The king, moreover, must not acquire great numbers of horses(A) for himself(B) or make the people return to Egypt(C) to get more of them,(D) for the Lord has told you, “You are not to go back that way again.”(E) 17 He must not take many wives,(F) or his heart will be led astray.(G) He must not accumulate(H) large amounts of silver and gold.(I)
18 When he takes the throne(J) of his kingdom, he is to write(K) for himself on a scroll a copy(L) of this law, taken from that of the Levitical priests. 19 It is to be with him, and he is to read it all the days of his life(M) so that he may learn to revere the Lord his God and follow carefully all the words of this law and these decrees(N) 20 and not consider himself better than his fellow Israelites and turn from the law(O) to the right or to the left.(P) Then he and his descendants will reign a long time over his kingdom in Israel.(Q)
