8 Therefore (A)I want the men (B)in every place to pray, (C)lifting up (D)holy hands, without anger and dispute. 9 Likewise, I want (E)women to adorn themselves with proper clothing, [a]modestly and discreetly, not with braided hair and gold or pearls or expensive apparel, 10 but rather by means of good works, as is proper for women making a claim to godliness. 11 (F)A woman must quietly receive instruction with entire submissiveness. 12 (G)But I do not allow a woman to teach or to exercise authority over a man, but to remain quiet.

8 Therefore I want the men everywhere to pray, lifting up holy hands(A) without anger or disputing. 9 I also want the women to dress modestly, with decency and propriety, adorning themselves, not with elaborate hairstyles or gold or pearls or expensive clothes,(B) 10 but with good deeds,(C) appropriate for women who profess to worship God.
11 A woman[a] should learn in quietness and full submission.(D) 12 I do not permit a woman to teach or to assume authority over a man;[b] she must be quiet.(E)
