¹⁹ but with the precious blood^(A) of Christ, a lamb^(B) without blemish or defect.^{(C) 20} He was chosen before the creation of the world,^(D) but was revealed in these last times^(E) for your sake.

⁵ so that your faith might not rest on human wisdom, but on God’s power.^(A)

God’s Wisdom Revealed by the Spirit

⁶ We do, however, speak a message of wisdom among the mature,^(B) but not the wisdom of this age^(C) or of the rulers of this age, who are coming to nothing.^{(D) 7} No, we declare God’s wisdom, a mystery^(E) that has been hidden^(F) and that God destined for our glory before time began. ⁸ None of the rulers of this age^(G) understood it, for if they had, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory.^(H)
