3 Do you seek a proof of Christ that speaketh in me, who towards you is not weak, but is mighty in you?
4 For although he was crucified through weakness, yet he liveth by the power of God. For we also are weak in him: but we shall live with him by the power of God towards you.
5 Try your own selves if you be in the faith; prove ye yourselves. Know you not your own selves, that Christ Jesus is in you, unless perhaps you be reprobates?
6 But I trust that you shall know that we are not reprobates.
7 Now we pray God, that you may do no evil, not that we may appear approved, but that you may do that which is good, and that we may be as reprobates.
8 For we can do nothing against the truth; but for the truth.
9 For we rejoice that we are weak, and you are strong. This also we pray for, your perfection.
10 Therefore I write these things, being absent, that, being present, I may not deal more severely, according to the power which the Lord hath given me unto edification, and not unto destruction.
11 For the rest, brethren, rejoice, be perfect, take exhortation, be of one mind, have peace; and the God of peace and of love shall be with you.
12 Salute one another with a holy kiss. All the saints salute you.
13 The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, and the charity of God, and the communication of the Holy Ghost be with you all. Amen.

3 since you are demanding proof that Christ is speaking through me.(A) He is not weak in dealing with you, but is powerful among you. 4 For to be sure, he was crucified in weakness,(B) yet he lives by God’s power.(C) Likewise, we are weak(D) in him, yet by God’s power we will live with him(E) in our dealing with you.
5 Examine yourselves(F) to see whether you are in the faith; test yourselves.(G) Do you not realize that Christ Jesus is in you(H)—unless, of course, you fail the test? 6 And I trust that you will discover that we have not failed the test. 7 Now we pray to God that you will not do anything wrong—not so that people will see that we have stood the test but so that you will do what is right even though we may seem to have failed. 8 For we cannot do anything against the truth, but only for the truth. 9 We are glad whenever we are weak(I) but you are strong;(J) and our prayer is that you may be fully restored.(K) 10 This is why I write these things when I am absent, that when I come I may not have to be harsh(L) in my use of authority—the authority the Lord gave me for building you up, not for tearing you down.(M)

11 Finally, brothers and sisters,(N) rejoice! Strive for full restoration, encourage one another, be of one mind, live in peace.(O) And the God of love(P) and peace(Q) will be with you.
