²⁸ Afterward David heard it, so he said, “I and my kingdom are innocent before Yahweh forever of the blood of Abner the son of Ner. ^29 (A)May it whirl on the head of Joab and on all his father’s house; and may ^(B)one who has a discharge, or who is a leper, or who takes hold of a spindle, or who falls by the sword, or who lacks bread not be cut off from the house of Joab.”

¹¹ How much more, when wicked men have killed a righteous man in his own house on his bed, shall I not now ^(A)require his blood from your hand and purge you from the earth?” ¹² Then ^(B)David commanded the young men, and they killed them and cut off their hands and feet and hung them up beside the pool in Hebron. But they took the head of Ish-bosheth ^(C)and buried it in the grave of Abner in Hebron.
