22 And going down to Caesarea, he went up to Jerusalem, and saluted the church, and so came down to Antioch.
23 And after he had spent some time there, he departed, and went through the country of Galatia and Phrygia, in order, confirming all the disciples.
24 Now a certain Jew, named Apollo, born at Alexandria, an eloquent man, came to Ephesus, one mighty in the scriptures.
25 This man was instructed in the way of the Lord; and being fervent in spirit, spoke, and taught diligently the things that are of Jesus, knowing only the baptism of John.
26 This man therefore began to speak boldly in the synagogue. Whom when Priscilla and Aquila had heard, they took him to them, and expounded to him the way of the Lord more diligently.
27 And whereas he was desirous to go to Achaia, the brethren exhorting, wrote to the disciples to receive him. Who, when he was come, helped them much who had believed.
28 For with much vigour he convinced the Jews openly, shewing by the scriptures, that Jesus is the Christ.

22 When he landed at Caesarea,(A) he went up to Jerusalem and greeted the church and then went down to Antioch.(B)
23 After spending some time in Antioch, Paul set out from there and traveled from place to place throughout the region of Galatia(C) and Phrygia,(D) strengthening all the disciples.(E)
24 Meanwhile a Jew named Apollos,(F) a native of Alexandria, came to Ephesus.(G) He was a learned man, with a thorough knowledge of the Scriptures. 25 He had been instructed in the way of the Lord, and he spoke with great fervor[a](H) and taught about Jesus accurately, though he knew only the baptism of John.(I) 26 He began to speak boldly in the synagogue. When Priscilla and Aquila(J) heard him, they invited him to their home and explained to him the way of God more adequately.
27 When Apollos wanted to go to Achaia,(K) the brothers and sisters(L) encouraged him and wrote to the disciples there to welcome him. When he arrived, he was a great help to those who by grace had believed. 28 For he vigorously refuted his Jewish opponents in public debate, proving from the Scriptures(M) that Jesus was the Messiah.(N)
