10 if you obey the Lord your God and keep his commands and decrees that are written in this Book of the Law(A) and turn to the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul.(B)

The Offer of Life or Death

11 Now what I am commanding you today is not too difficult for you or beyond your reach.(C) 12 It is not up in heaven, so that you have to ask, “Who will ascend into heaven(D) to get it and proclaim it to us so we may obey it?”(E) 13 Nor is it beyond the sea,(F) so that you have to ask, “Who will cross the sea to get it and proclaim it to us so we may obey it?”(G) 14 No, the word is very near you; it is in your mouth and in your heart so you may obey it.(H)

15 See, I set before you today life(I) and prosperity,(J) death(K) and destruction.(L) 16 For I command you today to love(M) the Lord your God, to walk in obedience to him, and to keep his commands, decrees and laws; then you will live(N) and increase, and the Lord your God will bless you in the land you are entering to possess.

17 But if your heart turns away and you are not obedient, and if you are drawn away to bow down to other gods and worship them, 18 I declare to you this day that you will certainly be destroyed.(O) You will not live long in the land you are crossing the Jordan to enter and possess.

Christ is the culmination of the law(A) so that there may be righteousness for everyone who believes.(B)

Moses writes this about the righteousness that is by the law: “The person who does these things will live by them.”[a](C) But the righteousness that is by faith(D) says: “Do not say in your heart, ‘Who will ascend into heaven?’”[b](E) (that is, to bring Christ down) “or ‘Who will descend into the deep?’”[c](F) (that is, to bring Christ up from the dead).(G) But what does it say? “The word is near you; it is in your mouth and in your heart,”[d](H) that is, the message concerning faith that we proclaim: If you declare(I) with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,”(J) and believe(K) in your heart that God raised him from the dead,(L) you will be saved.(M) 10 For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved. 11 As Scripture says, “Anyone who believes in him will never be put to shame.”[e](N) 12 For there is no difference between Jew and Gentile(O)—the same Lord is Lord of all(P) and richly blesses all who call on him,
