Ecclesiastes 7:6-8

6 for the fool’s laughter sounds like thorns crackling under a cooking pot. This too is vapor.
7 To be sure, oppressing others[a] turns a wise man into a fool, and a bribe corrupts his heart.
8 It is better to finish something than to begin something. A patient spirit is better than a proud spirit.

6 Like the crackling of thorns(A) under the pot,
so is the laughter(B) of fools.
This too is meaningless.
7 Extortion turns a wise person into a fool,
and a bribe(C) corrupts the heart.
8 The end of a matter is better than its beginning,
and patience(D) is better than pride.
