12 “On that same night I will pass through(A) Egypt and strike down(B) every firstborn(C) of both people and animals, and I will bring judgment on all the gods(D) of Egypt. I am the Lord.(E) 13 The blood will be a sign for you on the houses where you are, and when I see the blood, I will pass over(F) you. No destructive plague will touch you when I strike Egypt.(G)

28 The Israelites did just what the Lord commanded(A) Moses and Aaron.

29 At midnight(B) the Lord(C) struck down all the firstborn(D) in Egypt, from the firstborn of Pharaoh, who sat on the throne, to the firstborn of the prisoner, who was in the dungeon, and the firstborn of all the livestock(E) as well. 30 Pharaoh and all his officials and all the Egyptians got up during the night, and there was loud wailing(F) in Egypt, for there was not a house without someone dead.

The Exodus

31 During the night Pharaoh summoned Moses and Aaron and said, “Up! Leave my people, you and the Israelites! Go, worship(G) the Lord as you have requested. 32 Take your flocks and herds,(H) as you have said, and go. And also bless(I) me.”

Then they gathered around him and asked him, “Lord, are you at this time going to restore(E) the kingdom to Israel?”

He said to them: “It is not for you to know the times or dates the Father has set by his own authority.(F) But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you;(G) and you will be my witnesses(H) in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria,(I) and to the ends of the earth.”(J)

After he said this, he was taken up(K) before their very eyes, and a cloud hid him from their sight.

10 They were looking intently up into the sky as he was going, when suddenly two men dressed in white(L) stood beside them. 11 “Men of Galilee,”(M) they said, “why do you stand here looking into the sky? This same Jesus, who has been taken from you into heaven, will come back(N) in the same way you have seen him go into heaven.”
