^12 (A) Respect your father and your mother, and you will live a long time in the land I am giving you.

^16 (A) Respect your father and mother, and you will live a long and successful life in the land I am giving you.

^21 (A) Do not mistreat or abuse foreigners who live among you. Remember, you were foreigners in Egypt.

²² Do not mistreat widows or orphans.

Don't Mistreat the Powerless

Moses said to Israel:

^17 (A) Make sure that orphans and foreigners are treated fairly. And if you lend money to a widow and want to keep something of hers to guarantee that she will pay you back, don't take any of her clothes.
