Ang Pagtuad sang mga Israelinhon sang Ila mga Sala
10 Samtang nagaluhod si Ezra didto sa atubangan sang templo sang Dios, kag nagahibi nga nagapangamuyo kag nagatuad sang mga sala sang katawhan sang Israel, madamo nga mga Israelinhon nga lalaki, babayi, kag mga kabataan ang nagtipon sa iya palibot. Ini sila nagahilibion man sing tudo. 2 Dayon nagsiling sa iya si Shecania nga anak ni Jehiel, nga kaliwat ni Elam, “Indi kami matutom sa aton Dios tungod kay nagpangasawa kami sang mga babayi nga indi Israelinhon halin sa mga katawhan sa palibot naton. Pero sa pihak sini may paglaom pa gihapon ang katawhan sang Israel. 3 Gani karon, sundon namon ang laygay mo kag sang iban pa nga nagatahod sa mga sugo sang aton Dios. Maghimo kami sang kasugtanan sa aton Dios nga palayason ini nga mga babayi pati ang ila mga kabataan. Tumanon namon ang ginasiling sang Kasuguan. 4 Magtindog ka, kay imo responsibilidad ang pagtuytoy sa amon sa sining mga butang. Magpakabakod ka kag himua ang nagakadapat. Mabulig kami sa imo.”
5 Gani nagtindog si Ezra kag ginpasumpa niya ang mga nagapangulo nga mga pari, ang mga Levita, kag ang tanan nga Israelinhon, nga himuon nila ang ginsiling ni Shecania. Kag nagpanumpa sila. 6 Dayon naghalin si Ezra sa atubangan sang templo sang Dios kag nagkadto sa kuwarto ni Jehohanan nga anak ni Eliashib. Kag sang didto na siya, wala siya nagkaon kag nag-inom, kay nagpangasubo siya tungod sa pagkadimatutom sang mga Israelinhon nga nagbalik halin sa pagkabihag.
7-8 Nagpahibalo ang mga pangulo kag mga manugdumala sang mga Israelinhon sa bug-os nga Juda kag Jerusalem nga ang tanan nga nagbalik halin sa pagkabihag magtipon sa Jerusalem. Kag ang bisan sin-o nga indi magkadto sa sulod sang tatlo ka adlaw pagakuhaon sa iya ang tanan niya nga mga pagkabutang kag indi na siya pagkabigon nga sakop sang mga katawhan nga nagbalik halin sa pagkabihag.
9 Gani sa sulod sang tatlo ka adlaw nagtipon ang tanan nga katawhan sang Juda kag Benjamin, kag nagpungko sila didto sa may plasa sang templo sang Dios sa Jerusalem. Natabo ini sang ika-20 nga adlaw sang ikasiyam nga bulan. Nagapalangurog ang mga tawo tungod sa pagkaseryuso sang ila pagamitingan kag tungod sa mabaskog nga ulan.
10 Dayon nagtindog si Ezra nga pari kag nagsiling sa ila, “Nakasala kamo kay nagpangasawa kamo sang mga indi Israelinhon. Gani gindugangan pa gid ninyo ang sala sang Israel. 11 Karon, ituad ninyo ang inyo mga sala sa Ginoo, ang Dios sang inyo mga katigulangan, kag himua ninyo ang iya kabubut-on. Iseparar ninyo ang inyo kaugalingon sa mga katawhan sa palibot ninyo, kag bulagi ninyo ang inyo mga asawa nga indi Israelinhon.”
12 Nagsabat sing mabaskog ang bug-os nga katilingban, “Husto ka gid! Himuon namon ang isiling mo. 13 Pero ini nga butang indi matapos sa isa ukon duha lang ka adlaw, kay madamo sa amon ang nakahimo sang sini nga sala. Tig-ululan pa subong, kag indi kami makaagwanta nga magpaulan diri sa guwa. 14 Ang mga opisyal na lang naton ang magpabilin diri kag mag-asikaso sini para sa bug-os nga katilingban. Pakadtuon lang diri ang mga nagpangasawa sang indi Israelinhon sa natalana nga tion upod ang mga manugdumala kag mga hukom sang ila nga banwa. Himuon ta ini agod makuha ang puwerte nga kaakig sang Dios sa aton tungod sa butang nga aton ginhimo.” 15 Wala sing iban nga nagsupak sa sini nga plano luwas lang kay Jonatan nga anak ni Asahel kag ni Jazea nga anak ni Tikva. Ginsuportaran man sila ni Meshulam kag ni Shabetai nga Levita.
16-17 Gintuman sang mga nagbalik sa pagkabihag ang ato nga plano. Gani nagpili si Ezra nga pari sang mga lalaki nga pangulo sang mga pamilya, kag ginlista ang ila ngalan. Kag sang nahauna nga adlaw sang ikanapulo nga bulan, nagpungko sila kag ginsuguran nila ang pag-imbistigar parte sa pagpangasawa sang mga Israelinhon sang mga babayi nga indi Israelinhon. Natapos nila ang pag-imbistigar sang tanan nga kaso sang nahauna nga adlaw sang nahauna nga bulan, sang pagkasunod nga tuig.
Ang mga Lalaki nga Nagpangasawa sang mga Indi Israelinhon
18-19 Amo ini ang mga lalaki nga nagpangasawa sang mga indi Israelinhon, kag nagpromisa sila nga bulagan nila ining ila mga asawa: (Naghalad ang kada isa sa ila sang lalaki nga karnero bilang bayad sa ila nga sala.)
Sa mga pari:
si Maasea, Eliezer, Jarib, kag Gedalia, nga halin sa pamilya ni Jeshua nga anak ni Jozadak kag sa iya mga utod;
20 si Hanani kag si Zebadia, nga halin sa pamilya ni Imer;
21 si Maasea, Elias, Shemaya, Jehiel, kag Uzia, nga halin sa pamilya ni Harim;
22 si Elioenai, Maasea, Ishmael, Netanel, Jozabad, kag Elasa, nga halin sa pamilya ni Pashur.
23 Sa mga Levita:
si Jozabad, Shimei, Kelaya (nga ginatawag man nga Kelita), Petahia, Juda, kag Eliezer.
24 Sa mga musikero:
si Eliashib.
Sa mga guwardya sang mga puwertahan sang templo:
si Shalum, Telem, kag Uri.
25 Sa iban pa nga mga Israelinhon:
si Ramia, Izia, Malkia, Miamin, Eleazar, Hashabia,[a] kag Benaya, nga halin sa pamilya ni Parosh;
26 si Matania, Zacarias, Jehiel, Abdi, Jeremot, kag Elias, nga halin sa pamilya ni Elam;
27 si Elioenai, Eliashib, Matania, Jeremot, Zabad, kag Aziza, nga halin sa pamilya ni Zatu;
28 si Johohanan, Hanania, Zabai, kag Atlai, nga halin sa pamilya ni Bebai;
29 si Meshulam, Maluc, Adaya, Jashub, Sheal, kag Jeremot, nga halin sa pamilya ni Bani;
30 si Adna, Kelal, Benaya, Maasea, Matania, Bezalel, Binui, kag Manase, nga halin sa pamilya ni Pahat Moab;
31-32 si Eliezer, Ishia, Malkia, Shemaya, Shimeon, Benjamin, Maluc, kag Shemaria, nga halin sa pamilya ni Harim;
33 si Matenai, Matata, Zabad, Elifelet, Jeremai, Manase, kag Shimei, nga halin sa pamilya ni Hashum;
34-37 si Maadai, Amram, Uel, Benaya, Bedea, Keluhi, Vania, Meremot, Eliashib, Matania, Matenai, kag Jaasu, nga halin sa pamilya ni Bani;
38-42 si Shimei, Shelemia, Natan, Adaya, Macnadebai, Shashai, Sharai, Azarel, Shelemia, Shemaria, Shalum, Amaria, kag Jose, nga halin sa pamilya ni Binui;
43 si Jiel, Matitia, Zabad, Zebina, Jadai, Joel, kag Benaya, nga halin sa pamilya ni Nebo.
44 Ini sila tanan ang nagpangasawa sang mga babayi nga indi Israelinhon, kag ang iban sa ila may mga kabataan sa sini nga mga babayi.[b]

The People’s Confession of Sin
10 While Ezra was praying and confessing,(A) weeping(B) and throwing himself down before the house of God, a large crowd of Israelites—men, women and children—gathered around him. They too wept bitterly. 2 Then Shekaniah son of Jehiel, one of the descendants of Elam,(C) said to Ezra, “We have been unfaithful(D) to our God by marrying foreign women from the peoples around us. But in spite of this, there is still hope for Israel.(E) 3 Now let us make a covenant(F) before our God to send away(G) all these women and their children, in accordance with the counsel of my lord and of those who fear the commands of our God. Let it be done according to the Law. 4 Rise up; this matter is in your hands. We will support you, so take courage and do it.”
5 So Ezra rose up and put the leading priests and Levites and all Israel under oath(H) to do what had been suggested. And they took the oath. 6 Then Ezra withdrew from before the house of God and went to the room of Jehohanan son of Eliashib. While he was there, he ate no food and drank no water,(I) because he continued to mourn over the unfaithfulness of the exiles.
7 A proclamation was then issued throughout Judah and Jerusalem for all the exiles to assemble in Jerusalem. 8 Anyone who failed to appear within three days would forfeit all his property, in accordance with the decision of the officials and elders, and would himself be expelled from the assembly of the exiles.
9 Within the three days, all the men of Judah and Benjamin(J) had gathered in Jerusalem. And on the twentieth day of the ninth month, all the people were sitting in the square before the house of God, greatly distressed by the occasion and because of the rain. 10 Then Ezra(K) the priest stood up and said to them, “You have been unfaithful; you have married foreign women, adding to Israel’s guilt.(L) 11 Now honor[a] the Lord, the God of your ancestors, and do his will. Separate yourselves from the peoples around you and from your foreign wives.”(M)
12 The whole assembly responded with a loud voice:(N) “You are right! We must do as you say. 13 But there are many people here and it is the rainy season; so we cannot stand outside. Besides, this matter cannot be taken care of in a day or two, because we have sinned greatly in this thing. 14 Let our officials act for the whole assembly. Then let everyone in our towns who has married a foreign woman come at a set time, along with the elders and judges(O) of each town, until the fierce anger(P) of our God in this matter is turned away from us.” 15 Only Jonathan son of Asahel and Jahzeiah son of Tikvah, supported by Meshullam and Shabbethai(Q) the Levite, opposed this.
16 So the exiles did as was proposed. Ezra the priest selected men who were family heads, one from each family division, and all of them designated by name. On the first day of the tenth month they sat down to investigate the cases, 17 and by the first day of the first month they finished dealing with all the men who had married foreign women.

18 Among the descendants of the priests, the following had married foreign women:(R)
From the descendants of Joshua(S) son of Jozadak, and his brothers: Maaseiah, Eliezer, Jarib and Gedaliah. 19 (They all gave their hands(T) in pledge to put away their wives, and for their guilt they each presented a ram from the flock as a guilt offering.)(U)
20 From the descendants of Immer:(V)
Hanani and Zebadiah.
21 From the descendants of Harim:(W)
Maaseiah, Elijah, Shemaiah, Jehiel and Uzziah.
22 From the descendants of Pashhur:(X)
Elioenai, Maaseiah, Ishmael, Nethanel, Jozabad and Elasah.
23 Among the Levites:(Y)
Jozabad, Shimei, Kelaiah (that is, Kelita), Pethahiah, Judah and Eliezer.
24 From the musicians:
Eliashib.(Z)
From the gatekeepers:
Shallum, Telem and Uri.
25 And among the other Israelites:
From the descendants of Parosh:(AA)
Ramiah, Izziah, Malkijah, Mijamin, Eleazar, Malkijah and Benaiah.
26 From the descendants of Elam:(AB)
Mattaniah, Zechariah, Jehiel, Abdi, Jeremoth and Elijah.
27 From the descendants of Zattu:
Elioenai, Eliashib, Mattaniah, Jeremoth, Zabad and Aziza.
28 From the descendants of Bebai:
Jehohanan, Hananiah, Zabbai and Athlai.
29 From the descendants of Bani:
Meshullam, Malluk, Adaiah, Jashub, Sheal and Jeremoth.
30 From the descendants of Pahath-Moab:
Adna, Kelal, Benaiah, Maaseiah, Mattaniah, Bezalel, Binnui and Manasseh.
31 From the descendants of Harim:
Eliezer, Ishijah, Malkijah, Shemaiah, Shimeon, 32 Benjamin, Malluk and Shemariah.
33 From the descendants of Hashum:
Mattenai, Mattattah, Zabad, Eliphelet, Jeremai, Manasseh and Shimei.
34 From the descendants of Bani:
Maadai, Amram, Uel, 35 Benaiah, Bedeiah, Keluhi, 36 Vaniah, Meremoth, Eliashib, 37 Mattaniah, Mattenai and Jaasu.
38 From the descendants of Binnui:[b]
Shimei, 39 Shelemiah, Nathan, Adaiah, 40 Maknadebai, Shashai, Sharai, 41 Azarel, Shelemiah, Shemariah, 42 Shallum, Amariah and Joseph.
43 From the descendants of Nebo:
Jeiel, Mattithiah, Zabad, Zebina, Jaddai, Joel and Benaiah.
44 All these had married foreign women, and some of them had children by these wives.[c]

10 Now when Ezra had prayed, and when he had confessed, weeping and casting himself down before the house of God, there assembled unto him out of Israel a very great congregation of men and women and children: for the people wept very sore.
2 And Shechaniah the son of Jehiel, one of the sons of Elam, answered and said unto Ezra, We have trespassed against our God, and have taken strange wives of the people of the land: yet now there is hope in Israel concerning this thing.
3 Now therefore let us make a covenant with our God to put away all the wives, and such as are born of them, according to the counsel of my lord, and of those that tremble at the commandment of our God; and let it be done according to the law.
4 Arise; for this matter belongeth unto thee: we also will be with thee: be of good courage, and do it.
5 Then arose Ezra, and made the chief priests, the Levites, and all Israel, to swear that they should do according to this word. And they sware.
6 Then Ezra rose up from before the house of God, and went into the chamber of Johanan the son of Eliashib: and when he came thither, he did eat no bread, nor drink water: for he mourned because of the transgression of them that had been carried away.
7 And they made proclamation throughout Judah and Jerusalem unto all the children of the captivity, that they should gather themselves together unto Jerusalem;
8 And that whosoever would not come within three days, according to the counsel of the princes and the elders, all his substance should be forfeited, and himself separated from the congregation of those that had been carried away.
9 Then all the men of Judah and Benjamin gathered themselves together unto Jerusalem within three days. It was the ninth month, on the twentieth day of the month; and all the people sat in the street of the house of God, trembling because of this matter, and for the great rain.
10 And Ezra the priest stood up, and said unto them, Ye have transgressed, and have taken strange wives, to increase the trespass of Israel.
11 Now therefore make confession unto the Lord God of your fathers, and do his pleasure: and separate yourselves from the people of the land, and from the strange wives.
12 Then all the congregation answered and said with a loud voice, As thou hast said, so must we do.
13 But the people are many, and it is a time of much rain, and we are not able to stand without, neither is this a work of one day or two: for we are many that have transgressed in this thing.
14 Let now our rulers of all the congregation stand, and let all them which have taken strange wives in our cities come at appointed times, and with them the elders of every city, and the judges thereof, until the fierce wrath of our God for this matter be turned from us.
15 Only Jonathan the son of Asahel and Jahaziah the son of Tikvah were employed about this matter: and Meshullam and Shabbethai the Levite helped them.
16 And the children of the captivity did so. And Ezra the priest, with certain chief of the fathers, after the house of their fathers, and all of them by their names, were separated, and sat down in the first day of the tenth month to examine the matter.
17 And they made an end with all the men that had taken strange wives by the first day of the first month.
18 And among the sons of the priests there were found that had taken strange wives: namely, of the sons of Jeshua the son of Jozadak, and his brethren; Maaseiah, and Eliezer, and Jarib, and Gedaliah.
19 And they gave their hands that they would put away their wives; and being guilty, they offered a ram of the flock for their trespass.
20 And of the sons of Immer; Hanani, and Zebadiah.
21 And of the sons of Harim; Maaseiah, and Elijah, and Shemaiah, and Jehiel, and Uzziah.
22 And of the sons of Pashur; Elioenai, Maaseiah, Ishmael, Nethaneel, Jozabad, and Elasah.
23 Also of the Levites; Jozabad, and Shimei, and Kelaiah, (the same is Kelita,) Pethahiah, Judah, and Eliezer.
24 Of the singers also; Eliashib: and of the porters; Shallum, and Telem, and Uri.
