Genesis 1:26-27

New International Version

²⁶Then God said, “Let us^(A) make mankind^(B) in our image,^(C) in our likeness,^(D) so that they may rule^(E) over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky,^(F) over the livestock and all the wild animals,^[a] and over all the creatures that move along the ground.”

²⁷So God created^(G) mankind^(H) in his own image,^(I)
in the image of God^(J) he created them;
male and female^(K) he created them.^(L)

³⁰But the angel said to her, “Do not be afraid,^(A) Mary; you have found favor with God.^(B) ³¹You will conceive and give birth to a son, and you are to call him Jesus.^(C) ³²He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High.^(D) The Lord God will give him the throne of his father David,^(E) ³³and he will reign over Jacob’s descendants forever; his kingdom^(F) will never end.”^(G)

³⁴“How will this be,” Mary asked the angel, “since I am a virgin?”

³⁵The angel answered, “The Holy Spirit will come on you,^(H) and the power of the Most High^(I) will overshadow you. So the holy one^(J) to be born will be called^[a] the Son of God.^(K) ³⁶Even Elizabeth your relative is going to have a child^(L) in her old age, and she who was said to be unable to conceive is in her sixth month. ³⁷For no word from God will ever fail.”^(M)
