Genesis 32:30-32
American Standard Version
30 And Jacob called the name of the place [a]Peniel: for, said he, I have seen God face to face, and my life is preserved. 31 And the sun rose upon him as he passed over Penuel, and he limped upon his thigh. 32 Therefore the children of Israel eat not the sinew of the hip which is upon the hollow of the thigh, unto this day: because he touched the hollow of Jacob’s thigh in the sinew of the hip.

New International Version
30 So Jacob called the place Peniel,[a] saying, “It is because I saw God face to face,(A) and yet my life was spared.”
31 The sun rose above him as he passed Peniel,[b](B) and he was limping because of his hip. 32 Therefore to this day the Israelites do not eat the tendon attached to the socket of the hip,(C) because the socket of Jacob’s hip was touched near the tendon.
