And the Lord said to him: Go in thou and all thy house into the ark: for thee I have seen just before me in this generation.

Of all clean beasts take seven and seven, the male and the female.

But of the beasts that are unclean two and two, the male and the female. Of the fowls also of the air seven and seven, the male and the female: that seed may be saved upon the face of the whole earth.

For yet a while, and after seven days, I will rain upon the earth forty days and forty nights; and I will destroy every substance that I have made, from the face of the earth.

And Noe did all things which the Lord had commanded him.

The Lord then said to Noah, “Go into the ark, you and your whole family,(A) because I have found you righteous(B) in this generation. Take with you seven pairs of every kind of clean(C) animal, a male and its mate, and one pair of every kind of unclean animal, a male and its mate, and also seven pairs of every kind of bird, male and female, to keep their various kinds alive(D) throughout the earth. Seven days from now I will send rain(E) on the earth(F) for forty days(G) and forty nights,(H) and I will wipe from the face of the earth every living creature I have made.(I)

And Noah did all that the Lord commanded him.(J)

32 Now therefore, ye children, hear me: Blessed are they that keep my ways.

33 Hear instruction and be wise, and refuse it not.

34 Blessed is the man that heareth me, and that watcheth daily at my gates, and waiteth at the posts of my doors.

35 He that shall find me, shall find life, and shall have salvation from the Lord:

36 But he that shall sin against me, shall hurt his own soul. All that hate me love death.

Wisdom hath built herself a house, she hath hewn her out seven pillars.

She hath slain her victims, mingled her wine, and set forth her table.

She hath sent her maids to invite to the tower, and to the walls of the city:

Whosoever is a little one, let him come to me. And to the unwise she said:

Come, eat my bread, and drink the wine which I have mingled for you.

Forsake childishness, and live, and walk by the ways of prudence.

He that teacheth a scorner, doth an injury to himself: and he that rebuketh a wicked man, getteth himself a blot.

Rebuke not a scorner lest he hate thee. Rebuke a wise man, and he will love thee.

Give an occasion to a wise man, and wisdom shall be added to him. Teach a just man, and he shall make haste to receive it.

10 The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the holy is prudence.

11 For by me shall thy days be multiplied, and years of life shall be added to thee.

32 “Now then, my children, listen(A) to me;
    blessed are(B) those who keep my ways.(C)
33 Listen to my instruction and be wise;
    do not disregard it.
34 Blessed are those who listen(D) to me,
    watching daily at my doors,
    waiting at my doorway.
35 For those who find me(E) find life(F)
    and receive favor from the Lord.(G)
36 But those who fail to find me harm themselves;(H)
    all who hate me love death.”(I)

Invitations of Wisdom and Folly

Wisdom has built(J) her house;
    she has set up[a] its seven pillars.
She has prepared her meat and mixed her wine;(K)
    she has also set her table.(L)
She has sent out her servants, and she calls(M)
    from the highest point of the city,(N)
    “Let all who are simple(O) come to my house!”
To those who have no sense(P) she says,
    “Come,(Q) eat my food
    and drink the wine I have mixed.(R)
Leave your simple ways and you will live;(S)
    walk in the way of insight.”(T)

Whoever corrects a mocker invites insults;
    whoever rebukes the wicked incurs abuse.(U)
Do not rebuke mockers(V) or they will hate you;
    rebuke the wise and they will love you.(W)
Instruct the wise and they will be wiser still;
    teach the righteous and they will add to their learning.(X)

10 The fear of the Lord(Y) is the beginning of wisdom,
    and knowledge of the Holy One(Z) is understanding.(AA)
11 For through wisdom[b] your days will be many,
    and years will be added to your life.(AB)
