7 Again he appointed in David a certain day, by Today, after so long a time, saying, as it is said, (A)This day, if ye hear his voice, harden not your hearts.
8 For if [a]Jesus had given them rest, then would he not after this have spoken of another day.
9 There remaineth therefore a rest to the people of God.

7 God again set a certain day, calling it “Today.” This he did when a long time later he spoke through David, as in the passage already quoted:
8 For if Joshua had given them rest,(B) God would not have spoken(C) later about another day. 9 There remains, then, a Sabbath-rest for the people of God;
