⁶ “Blessed are those who hunger and ^(C)thirst ^(D)for righteousness, for they shall be satisfied.

⁷ “Blessed are ^(E)the merciful, for they shall receive mercy.

⁸ “Blessed are ^(F)the pure in heart, for ^(G)they shall see God.

⁹ “Blessed are ^(H)the peacemakers, for ^(I)they shall be called ^(J)sons^[a] of God.

Hearing and Doing the Word

^19 (A)Know this, my beloved brothers: let every person ^(B)be quick to hear, ^(C)slow to speak, ^(D)slow to anger;

^2 (A)Bear one another's burdens, and ^(B)so fulfill ^(C)the law of Christ.

¹⁰ For if they fall, one will lift up his fellow. But woe to him who is alone when he falls and has not another to lift him up!

⁴¹ And when the ten heard it, they began to be indignant at James and John. ^42 (A)And Jesus called them to him and said to them, “You know that those who are considered rulers of the Gentiles ^(B)lord it over them, and their great ones exercise authority over them. ⁴³ But ^(C)it shall not be so among you. But whoever would be great among you must be your servant,^[a]

¹⁶ Therefore, ^(A)confess your sins to one another and pray for one another, ^(B)that you may be healed. ^(C)The prayer of a righteous person has great power as it is working.^[a]
