¹³ for my people have committed two evils:
^(A)they have forsaken ^(B)me,
    the fountain of ^(C)living waters,
and hewed out cisterns for themselves,
    broken cisterns that can hold no water.

^32 (A)Can a virgin forget her ornaments,
    or a bride her attire?
Yet ^(B)my people have forgotten me
    days without number.

¹³ O Lord, ^(A)the hope of Israel,
    ^(B)all who forsake you shall be put to shame;
those who turn away from you^{[a] (C)}shall be written in the earth,
    for ^(D)they have forsaken ^(E)the Lord, the fountain of living water.
