and Adonai has brought it about; he has done what he said he would do, because you people sinned against Adonai and did not listen to what he said; that is why this has come upon you. Now, today, I am freeing you from the chains on your hand. If it seems good to you to come with me to Bavel, come; and I will look after you well. But if it seems not good to you to come with me to Bavel, then don’t — the entire land is in front of you: wherever it seems good and right for you to go, go there.” Before Yirmeyahu could answer, [N’vuzar’adan said,] “Go back then to G’dalyahu the son of Achikam, the son of Shafan, whom the king of Bavel has made governor over the cities of Y’hudah, and live with him among the people; or go wherever it seems right for you to go.” The commander of the guard gave him provisions and a gift, and dismissed him.

But today I am freeing(C) you from the chains(D) on your wrists. Come with me to Babylon, if you like, and I will look after you; but if you do not want to, then don’t come. Look, the whole country lies before you; go wherever you please.”(E) However, before Jeremiah turned to go,[a] Nebuzaradan added, “Go back to Gedaliah(F) son of Ahikam,(G) the son of Shaphan, whom the king of Babylon has appointed(H) over the towns(I) of Judah, and live with him among the people, or go anywhere else you please.”(J)

Then the commander gave him provisions and a present(K) and let him go.
