¹⁵ Time and time again^[a] I have sent you all my servants the prophets, proclaiming, “Turn, each one from his evil way,^(A) and correct your actions. Stop following other gods to serve them.^(B) Live in the land that I gave you and your ancestors.” But you did not pay attention or obey me.^(C)

⁹ Gedaliah son of Ahikam, son of Shaphan, swore an oath to them and their men, assuring them, “Don’t be afraid to serve the Chaldeans. Live in the land and serve the king of Babylon, and it will go well for you.^(A)

²⁸ You will live in the land that I gave your ancestors;^(A) you will be my people, and I will be your God.^(B)

²⁵ “‘They will live in the land that I gave to my servant Jacob,^(A) where your ancestors lived. They will live in it forever with their children and grandchildren, and my servant David will be their prince forever.^(B)
