15 I don’t call you servants anymore, because a servant doesn’t know what his master is doing. But I’ve called you friends, because I’ve made known to you everything that I’ve heard from my Father.
16 “You have not chosen me, but I have chosen you. I have appointed you to go and produce fruit that will last,[a] so that whatever you ask the Father in my name, he will give it to you. 17 I am giving you these commandments so that you may love one another.”

Instead, I have called you friends, for everything that I learned from my Father I have made known to you.(A) 16 You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you(B) so that you might go and bear fruit(C)—fruit that will last—and so that whatever you ask in my name the Father will give you.(D) 17 This is my command: Love each other.(E)
