⁶ Jesus answered, “I am^(A) the way^(B) and the truth^(C) and the life.^(D) No one comes to the Father except through me.^(E)

²⁵ He had been instructed in the way of the Lord, and he spoke with great fervor^[a](A) and taught about Jesus accurately, though he knew only the baptism of John.^{(B) 26} He began to speak boldly in the synagogue. When Priscilla and Aquila^(C) heard him, they invited him to their home and explained to him the way of God more adequately.

²⁷ When Apollos wanted to go to Achaia,^(D) the brothers and sisters^(E) encouraged him and wrote to the disciples there to welcome him. When he arrived, he was a great help to those who by grace had believed. ²⁸ For he vigorously refuted his Jewish opponents in public debate, proving from the Scriptures^(F) that Jesus was the Messiah.^(G)

⁹ But some of them^(A) became obstinate; they refused to believe and publicly maligned the Way.^(B) So Paul left them. He took the disciples^(C) with him and had discussions daily in the lecture hall of Tyrannus.

The Riot in Ephesus

²³ About that time there arose a great disturbance about the Way.^(A)

⁴ I persecuted^(A) the followers of this Way^(B) to their death, arresting both men and women and throwing them into prison,^(C)

¹⁴ However, I admit that I worship the God of our ancestors^(A) as a follower of the Way,^(B) which they call a sect.^(C) I believe everything that is in accordance with the Law and that is written in the Prophets,^(D)

²² Then Felix, who was well acquainted with the Way,^(A) adjourned the proceedings. “When Lysias the commander comes,” he said, “I will decide your case.”
