³ Therefore King Adoni-zedek of Jerusalem sent word to King Hoham of Hebron, King Piram of Jarmuth, King Japhia of Lachish, and King Debir of Eglon, saying,

¹⁹ A conspiracy was formed against him in Jerusalem,^(A) and he fled to Lachish.^(B) However, men were sent after him to Lachish, and they put him to death there.

² Then the king of Assyria sent his royal spokesman, along with a massive army, from Lachish^(A) to King Hezekiah at Jerusalem. The Assyrian stood near the conduit of the upper pool, by the road to Launderer’s Field.^(B)
