43 You must be kind to all Israelites. Remember to obey your God.
44 Israel's people can buy male and female slaves. Those slaves must come from other countries. 45 And Israelites can buy people from other countries who live among them. They may have children who were born in your land. You can buy them. They will become slaves.

43 Do not rule over them ruthlessly,(A) but fear your God.(B)
44 “‘Your male and female slaves are to come from the nations around you; from them you may buy slaves. 45 You may also buy some of the temporary residents living among you and members of their clans born in your country, and they will become your property.
