¹⁰ “‘If a man commits adultery with another man’s wife^(A)—with the wife of his neighbor—both the adulterer and the adulteress are to be put to death.^(B)

²² May this water^(A) that brings a curse^(B) enter your body so that your abdomen swells or your womb miscarries.”

“‘Then the woman is to say, “Amen. So be it.^(C)”

²³ “‘The priest is to write these curses on a scroll^(D) and then wash them off into the bitter water. ²⁴ He shall make the woman drink the bitter water that brings a curse, and this water that brings a curse and causes bitter suffering will enter her. ²⁵ The priest is to take from her hands the grain offering for jealousy, wave it before the Lord^(E) and bring it to the altar. ²⁶ The priest is then to take a handful of the grain offering as a memorial^[a] offering^(F) and burn it on the altar; after that, he is to have the woman drink the water. ²⁷ If she has made herself impure and been unfaithful to her husband, this will be the result: When she is made to drink the water that brings a curse and causes bitter suffering, it will enter her, her abdomen will swell and her womb will miscarry, and she will become a curse.^(G)

³⁸ I will sentence you to the punishment of women who commit adultery and who shed blood;^(A) I will bring on you the blood vengeance of my wrath and jealous anger.^(B)

Adultery

²⁷ “You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall not commit adultery.’^[a](A)

²⁸ But I tell you that anyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart.^(A)

⁵ In the Law Moses commanded us to stone such women.^(A) Now what do you say?”

⁹ Or do you not know that wrongdoers will not inherit the kingdom of God?^(A) Do not be deceived:^(B) Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers^(C) nor men who have sex with men^[a](D)

⁴ Marriage should be honored by all,^(A) and the marriage bed kept pure, for God will judge the adulterer and all the sexually immoral.^(B)
