The Parable of the Shrewd Manager
16 Jesus told his disciples: “There was a rich man whose manager was accused of wasting his possessions.(A) 2 So he called him in and asked him, ‘What is this I hear about you? Give an account of your management, because you cannot be manager any longer.’
3 “The manager said to himself, ‘What shall I do now? My master is taking away my job. I’m not strong enough to dig, and I’m ashamed to beg— 4 I know what I’ll do so that, when I lose my job here, people will welcome me into their houses.’
5 “So he called in each one of his master’s debtors. He asked the first, ‘How much do you owe my master?’
6 “‘Nine hundred gallons[a] of olive oil,’ he replied.
“The manager told him, ‘Take your bill, sit down quickly, and make it four hundred and fifty.’
7 “Then he asked the second, ‘And how much do you owe?’
“‘A thousand bushels[b] of wheat,’ he replied.
“He told him, ‘Take your bill and make it eight hundred.’
8 “The master commended the dishonest manager because he had acted shrewdly. For the people of this world(B) are more shrewd(C) in dealing with their own kind than are the people of the light.(D) 9 I tell you, use worldly wealth(E) to gain friends for yourselves, so that when it is gone, you will be welcomed into eternal dwellings.(F)
10 “Whoever can be trusted with very little can also be trusted with much,(G) and whoever is dishonest with very little will also be dishonest with much. 11 So if you have not been trustworthy in handling worldly wealth,(H) who will trust you with true riches? 12 And if you have not been trustworthy with someone else’s property, who will give you property of your own?
13 “No one can serve two masters. Either you will hate the one and love the other, or you will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money.”(I)
14 The Pharisees, who loved money,(J) heard all this and were sneering at Jesus.(K) 15 He said to them, “You are the ones who justify yourselves(L) in the eyes of others, but God knows your hearts.(M) What people value highly is detestable in God’s sight.

16 “The Law and the Prophets were proclaimed until John.(N) Since that time, the good news of the kingdom of God is being preached,(O) and everyone is forcing their way into it. 17 It is easier for heaven and earth to disappear than for the least stroke of a pen to drop out of the Law.(P)
18 “Anyone who divorces his wife and marries another woman commits adultery, and the man who marries a divorced woman commits adultery.(Q)
The Rich Man and Lazarus
19 “There was a rich man who was dressed in purple and fine linen and lived in luxury every day.(R) 20 At his gate was laid a beggar(S) named Lazarus, covered with sores 21 and longing to eat what fell from the rich man’s table.(T) Even the dogs came and licked his sores.
22 “The time came when the beggar died and the angels carried him to Abraham’s side. The rich man also died and was buried. 23 In Hades, where he was in torment, he looked up and saw Abraham far away, with Lazarus by his side. 24 So he called to him, ‘Father Abraham,(U) have pity on me and send Lazarus to dip the tip of his finger in water and cool my tongue, because I am in agony in this fire.’(V)
25 “But Abraham replied, ‘Son, remember that in your lifetime you received your good things, while Lazarus received bad things,(W) but now he is comforted here and you are in agony.(X) 26 And besides all this, between us and you a great chasm has been set in place, so that those who want to go from here to you cannot, nor can anyone cross over from there to us.’
27 “He answered, ‘Then I beg you, father, send Lazarus to my family, 28 for I have five brothers. Let him warn them,(Y) so that they will not also come to this place of torment.’
29 “Abraham replied, ‘They have Moses(Z) and the Prophets;(AA) let them listen to them.’
30 “‘No, father Abraham,’(AB) he said, ‘but if someone from the dead goes to them, they will repent.’
31 “He said to him, ‘If they do not listen to Moses and the Prophets, they will not be convinced even if someone rises from the dead.’”

16 耶 穌 又 對 門 徒 說 ： 有 一 個 財 主 的 管 家 ， 別 人 向 他 主 人 告 他 浪 費 主 人 的 財 物 。
2 主 人 叫 他 來 ， 對 他 說 ： 我 聽 見 你 這 事 怎 麼 樣 呢 ？ 把 你 所 經 管 的 交 代 明 白 ， 因 你 不 能 再 作 我 的 管 家 。
3 那 管 家 心 裡 說 ： 主 人 辭 我 ， 不 用 我 再 作 管 家 ， 我 將 來 作 甚 麼 ？ 鋤 地 呢 ？ 無 力 ； 討 飯 呢 ？ 怕 羞 。
4 我 知 道 怎 麼 行 ， 好 叫 人 在 我 不 作 管 家 之 後 ， 接 我 到 他 們 家 裡 去 。
5 於 是 把 欠 他 主 人 債 的 ， 一 個 一 個 的 叫 了 來 ， 問 頭 一 個 說 ： 你 欠 我 主 人 多 少 ？
6 他 說 ： 一 百 簍 （ 每 簍 約 五 十 斤 ） 油 。 管 家 說 ： 拿 你 的 賬 ， 快 坐 下 ， 寫 五 十 。
7 又 問 一 個 說 ： 你 欠 多 少 ？ 他 說 ： 一 百 石 麥 子 。 管 家 說 ： 拿 你 的 賬 ， 寫 八 十 。
8 主 人 就 誇 獎 這 不 義 的 管 家 做 事 聰 明 。 因 為 今 世 之 子 ， 在 世 事 之 上 ， 較 比 光 明 之 子 更 加 聰 明 。
9 我 又 告 訴 你 們 ， 要 藉 著 那 不 義 的 錢 財 結 交 朋 友 ， 到 了 錢 財 無 用 的 時 候 ， 他 們 可 以 接 你 們 到 永 存 的 帳 幕 裡 去 。
10 人 在 最 小 的 事 上 忠 心 ， 在 大 事 上 也 忠 心 ； 在 最 小 的 事 上 不 義 ， 在 大 事 上 也 不 義 。
11 倘 若 你 們 在 不 義 的 錢 財 上 不 忠 心 ， 誰 還 把 那 真 實 的 錢 財 託 付 你 們 呢 ？
12 倘 若 你 們 在 別 人 的 東 西 上 不 忠 心 ， 誰 還 把 你 們 自 己 的 東 西 給 你 們 呢 ？
13 一 個 僕 人 不 能 事 奉 兩 個 主 ； 不 是 惡 這 個 愛 那 個 ， 就 是 重 這 個 輕 那 個 。 你 們 不 能 又 事 奉 神 ， 又 事 奉 瑪 門 。
14 法 利 賽 人 是 貪 愛 錢 財 的 ， 他 們 聽 見 這 一 切 話 ， 就 嗤 笑 耶 穌 。
15 耶 穌 對 他 們 說 ： 你 們 是 在 人 面 前 自 稱 為 義 的 ， 你 們 的 心 ， 神 卻 知 道 ； 因 為 人 所 尊 貴 的 ， 是 神 看 為 可 憎 惡 的 。
16 律 法 和 先 知 到 約 翰 為 止 ， 從 此 神 國 的 福 音 傳 開 了 ， 人 人 努 力 要 進 去 。
17 天 地 廢 去 較 比 律 法 的 一 點 一 畫 落 空 還 容 易 。
18 凡 休 妻 另 娶 的 就 是 犯 姦 淫 ； 娶 被 休 之 妻 的 也 是 犯 姦 淫 。
19 有 一 個 財 主 穿 著 紫 色 袍 和 細 麻 布 衣 服 ， 天 天 奢 華 宴 樂 。
20 又 有 一 個 討 飯 的 ， 名 叫 拉 撒 路 ， 渾 身 生 瘡 ， 被 人 放 在 財 主 門 口 ，
21 要 得 財 主 桌 子 上 掉 下 來 的 零 碎 充 飢 ； 並 且 狗 來 餂 他 的 瘡 。
22 後 來 那 討 飯 的 死 了 ， 被 天 使 帶 去 放 在 亞 伯 拉 罕 的 懷 裡 。 財 主 也 死 了 ， 並 且 埋 葬 了 。
23 他 在 陰 間 受 痛 苦 ， 舉 目 遠 遠 的 望 見 亞 伯 拉 罕 ， 又 望 見 拉 撒 路 在 他 懷 裡 ，
24 就 喊 著 說 ： 我 祖 亞 伯 拉 罕 哪 ， 可 憐 我 罷 ！ 打 發 拉 撒 路 來 ， 用 指 頭 尖 蘸 點 水 ， 涼 涼 我 的 舌 頭 ； 因 為 我 在 這 火 燄 裡 ， 極 其 痛 苦 。
25 亞 伯 拉 罕 說 ： 兒 阿 ， 你 該 回 想 你 生 前 享 過 福 ， 拉 撒 路 也 受 過 苦 ； 如 今 他 在 這 裡 得 安 慰 ， 你 倒 受 痛 苦 。
26 不 但 這 樣 ， 並 且 在 你 我 之 間 ， 有 深 淵 限 定 ， 以 致 人 要 從 這 邊 過 到 你 們 那 邊 是 不 能 的 ； 要 從 那 邊 過 到 我 們 這 邊 也 是 不 能 的 。
27 財 主 說 ： 我 祖 阿 ！ 既 是 這 樣 ， 求 你 打 發 拉 撒 路 到 我 父 家 去 ；
28 因 為 我 還 有 五 個 弟 兄 ， 他 可 以 對 他 們 作 見 證 ， 免 得 他 們 也 來 到 這 痛 苦 的 地 方 。
29 亞 伯 拉 罕 說 ： 他 們 有 摩 西 和 先 知 的 話 可 以 聽 從 。
30 他 說 ： 我 祖 亞 伯 拉 罕 哪 ， 不 是 的 ， 若 有 一 個 從 死 裡 復 活 的 ， 到 他 們 那 裡 去 的 ， 他 們 必 要 悔 改 。
31 亞 伯 拉 罕 說 ： 若 不 聽 從 摩 西 和 先 知 的 話 ， 就 是 有 一 個 從 死 裡 復 活 的 ， 他 們 也 是 不 聽 勸 。

真正的财富
16 耶稣对门徒们说∶“从前，某财主有一个管家，有人告这个管家的状，说他挥霍主人的钱财， 2 于是，那个财主就把管家叫来，问他∶‘我听说的是怎么一回事呢？把你经管的事情向我作一个交待，因为我不让你再当管家了。’ 3 管家心想∶‘我该怎么办呢？我的主人辞掉我管家的职务，可我又没有力气去锄地；也羞于去讨饭。 4 我知道我该怎么办了，那样当主人辞掉我管家的职务时，人们将把我接到他们家里去。’ 5 于是，他把债户一一叫来。他对第一个人说∶‘你欠我的主人多少呢？’那个人说： 6 ‘一百桶橄榄油。’于是管家对他说‘这是你的账单，坐下来，赶快改写成五十桶。’ 7 然后，他又对另一个人欠债的人说∶‘你呢，你欠多少？’那个人说∶‘一百担麦子。’管家说∶‘这是你的账单，坐下来，改写八十担。’ 8 主人得知这件事后，把这个不诚实的管家夸奖了一番，因为他做事精明。是啊，这个世界的人们在处理他们自己的事务时，要比光明磊落的人们精明的多。
9 “我告诉你们吧，要用尘世的财富为你们自己广交朋友，所以，当钱财用尽的时候，你的朋友们就会把你接到永恒的家里去。 10 在小事上诚实的人，在大事上也会诚实；在小事上不诚实的人，在大事上也会不诚实。 11 如果你们在处理世间的财富上都得不到信赖，那么谁会把真正的财富托付给你们呢？ 12 如果你们在处理属于别人的东西上得不到信赖，那么，谁又会把你们自己的东西给你们呢？
13 “你们不能同时服侍两个主人，你们会恨这个，爱那个；或者忠诚一个，轻视另一个，你们不可能同时既侍奉上帝、又侍奉金钱。”
上帝的律法不能更改
14 那些喜爱金钱的法利赛人听到这里，就讥笑耶稣。 15 耶稣便对他们说∶“你们这些人在人们面前装好人，但是，上帝知道你们的内心。因为，世人看重的事情对上帝却毫无价值。 16 律法和先知的著作直到约翰的到来都是有约束力的。自从约翰的到来，上帝的王国的福音得到了传播，很多人都拼命的想进去。 17 然而，天地的消逝比涂抹律法的一笔一划还要容易。
离婚和再婚
18 “任何男人与妻子离了婚，又另娶别的女人，他就犯了通奸罪；娶了离了婚的女人的男人也犯了通奸罪。
富人与拉撒路
19 “从前，有一个富人，每天穿着华丽的衣服，过着奢侈享乐的生活。 20 有一个名字叫拉撒路的穷人，他浑身生疮，常常躺在财主家的大门口。 21 他每天都盼望着用财主桌上掉下来的残羹剩饭充饥，甚至连狗都跑过来舔他的疮。 22 后来，这个可怜的人死了，天使把他抬到了亚伯拉罕的身边。然后，那个财主也死了，并被埋葬， 23 在地狱里他受着折磨，他抬头望去，看到了远处的亚伯拉罕，还看到了拉撒路站在他的身边。 24 财主便大喊道∶‘我父亚伯拉罕，可怜可怜我吧！请派拉撒路来吧，好让他用指头蘸点水，凉凉我的舌头吧，因为我在这火焰里痛苦不堪！’ 25 但是，亚伯拉罕说∶‘我的儿子，你要记住，你在生前，享受了一切美好的事物，而拉撒路却受尽了苦难。但是，现在他在这里舒舒服服的，而你却在痛苦之中。 26 不仅仅如此，而且我们和你们之间有一道深沟，所以，我这边想过去的人过不去，你们那边想过来的人也过不来。’ 27 财主说∶‘如果是这样的话，我乞求您，父亲，派拉撒路到我父亲家去， 28 因为我有五个兄弟，让拉撒路告诫他们，以便将来他们不会到这个受尽折磨的地方来。’ 29 但是，亚伯拉罕说∶‘他们有摩西的律法和先知的著作，让你的兄弟去听从它们的话吧。’ 30 那个财主又说∶‘不行啊，父亚伯拉罕，如果让死人到他们那里去，他们才会悔改。’ 31 亚伯拉罕对他说∶‘如果他们不听摩西和先知的教导，即使有人从死里复活，也不会使他们信服的。’”
