Luke 4:11-13

^10-11^(A) The Scriptures say:

‘God will tell his angels
    to take care of you.
They will catch you
    in their arms,
and you will not even hurt
    your feet on the stones.’ ”

¹²^(B) Jesus answered, “The Scriptures also say, ‘Don't try to test the Lord your God!’ ”

¹³After the devil had finished testing Jesus in every way possible, he left him for a while.

¹¹they will lift you up in their hands,
so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.’^[a]”^(A)

¹²Jesus answered, “It is said: ‘Do not put the Lord your God to the test.’^[b]”^(B)

¹³When the devil had finished all this tempting,^(C) he left him^(D) until an opportune time.
