20 And if the Lord had not cut short those days, no one would be saved. But because of the elect, whom he chose, he has cut them[a] short. 21 Then[b] if anyone says to you, ‘Look, here is the Christ!’[c] or ‘Look, there he is!’ do not believe him. 22 For false messiahs[d] and false prophets will appear and perform signs and wonders to deceive, if possible, the elect.
