23 Dabadeed Ciise ayaa dadkii badnaa iyo xertiisii la hadlay, 2 oo wuxuu ku yidhi, Culimmada iyo Farrisiinta waxay ku fadhiistaan kursiga Muuse. 3 Haddaba wax walba oo ay idiin sheegaan inaad dhawrtaan, dhawra oo yeela, laakiin siday sameeyaan ha samaynina, waayo, wax bay yidhaahdaan, mana sameeyaan. 4 Waxay isku xidhxidhaan culaabo culculus oo waxay saaraan dadka garbihiisa, laakiin iyagu dooni maayaan inay fartooda ku dhaqaajiyaan. 5 Laakiin shuqulkooda oo dhan waxay u sameeyaan in dadku arko, waayo, xirsiyadooda way ballaadhiyaan, oo faraqa dharkoodana way weyneeyaan; 6 waxay jecel yihiin meelaha hore oo diyaafadaha, iyo kursiyada hore oo sunagogyada, 7 iyo salaanta suuqa, iyo in dadku ugu yeedhaan, Macallin. 8 Laakiin yaan laydiinku yeedhin, Macallin, waayo, mid baa macallinkiinna ah, idinkuna kulli walaalo baad tihiin. 9 Ninna dhulka ha ugu yeedhina aabbe, waayo, mid baa Aabbihiin ah, kaasu waa kan jannada ku jira. 10 Yaan laydiinku yeedhin sayiddo, waayo, mid baa sayidkiinna ah, kaasu waa Masiixa. 11 Laakiin kan idiinku weyn waa inuu ahaado midiidinkinna. 12 Oo ku alla kii isa sarraysiiya waa la hoosaysiin doonaa, oo ku alla kii is-hoosaysiiyana waa la sarraysiin doonaa.
13 Laakiin waa idiin hoog, culimmo iyo Farrisiin yahay oo labawejiilayaasha ahu, waayo, boqortooyada jannada ayaad dadka ka xidhaan, maxaa yeelay, idinku ma gashaan, oo kuwa gelayana uma deysaan inay galaan. 14 Waa idiin hoog, culimmo iyo Farrisiin yahay, labawejiilayaasha ahu, waayo, waxaad laasataan guryaha carmallada, oo tukashooyin dhaadheer ayaad istusid u tukataan, sidaa darteed waxaad heli doontaan xisaab aad u daran. 15 Waa idiin hoog, culimmo iyo Farrisiin yahay, labawejiilayaasha ahu, waayo, badda iyo dhulka waxaad u wareegtaan inaad mid soo hadaysaan, oo kolkuu sidaas noqdo, waxaad ka dhigtaan wiilka jahannamada laba kol in idinka badan idinka.
16 Waa idiin hoog, hoggaamiyayaal yahow indhaha la'u oo leh, Ku alla kii macbudka ku dhaarta, waxba ma aha, laakiin ku alla kii dahabkii macbudka ku dhaarta, wuxuu ku dhaartay waa lagu leeyahay. 17 Doqonno yahow indhaha la'u, kee baa weyn, dahabka iyo macbudka dahabka quduus ka dhiga? 18 Oo weliba waxaad leedihiin, Ku alla kii meesha allabariga ku dhaarta waxba ma aha, laakiin ku alla kii ku dhaarta hadiyadda dul saaran, wuxuu ku dhaartay waa lagu leeyahay. 19 Indhoolayaal yahow, haddaba kee baa weyn, hadiyadda iyo meesha allabariga oo hadiyadda quduus ka dhigta? 20 Haddaba kan meesha allabariga ku dhaartaa, wuxuu ku dhaartaa iyada iyo wixii dul saaran oo dhanba. 21 Oo kii macbudka ku dhaartaa, wuxuu ku dhaartaa isaga iyo kan dhex degganba. 22 Oo kii jannada ku dhaartaana, wuxuu ku dhaartaa carshiga Ilaah iyo kan ku dul fadhiyaba.
23 Waa idiin hoog, culimmo iyo Farrisiin yahay, labawejiilayaasha ahu, waayo, reexaanta iyo kabsarta iyo kamuunta toban meelood ayaad meel ka bixisaan, oo waxaad dhaafteen wixii sharciga ugu cuslaa, waxaa weeye xukunka iyo naxariista iyo iimaanka. Waxaad lahaydeen inaad waxan samaysaan oo aydnaan kuwa kale dhaafin. 24 Hoggaamiyayaal yahow indhaha la'u oo kaneecada iska miira oo awrka liqa.
25 Waa idiin hoog, culimmo iyo Farrisiin yahay, labawejiilayaasha ahu, waayo, koobka iyo saxanka dushaad ka nadiifisaan, laakiin gudaha waxaa ka buuxa dulun iyo damacbadnaan. 26 Farrisi yahow indhaha la'u, horta koobka gudaha ka nadiifi in dushiisuna nadiifsanaato.
27 Waa idiin hoog, culimmo iyo Farrisiin yahay, labawejiilayaasha ahu, waayo, waxaad u eg tihiin xabaalo la caddeeyey, kuwa dushoodu u eg tahay wax qurxoon, laakiin hoosta waxaa ka buuxa lafo dad dhintay iyo wasakh oo dhan. 28 Sidaas oo kalena idinku dusha waxaad dadka ugu eg tihiin dad xaq ah, laakiin gudaha waxaa idinka buuxa labawejiilenimo iyo dembi.
29 Waa idiin hoog, culimmo iyo Farrisiin yahay, labawejiilayaasha ahu, waayo, waxaad dhistaan xabaalaha nebiyada, oo waxaad qurxisaan qabriyada kuwii xaqa ahaa; 30 oo waxaad tidhaahdaan, Haddii aannu waagii awowayaashayo joogi lahayn, annagu kala ma aannan qayb galneen kuwii dhiigga nebiyada qabay. 31 Sidaasaad isugu marag furaysaan inaad tihiin wiilasha kuwii nebiyada dilay. 32 Idinku haddaba dhammaystira qiyaastii awowayaashiin. 33 Abeesooyin yahow, dhal jilbisay, sidee baad uga baxsan doontaan xisaabta jahannamada? 34 Sidaa darteed, waxaan idiin soo dirayaa nebiyo iyo kuwa xigmadda leh iyo culimmo. Qaarkood waad dili doontaan oo iskutallaabta ku qodbi doontaan, qaarkoodna sunagogyadiinna ayaad ku karbaashi doontaan, oo magaalo ilaa magaalo ayaad ku silcin doontaan, 35 inuu dushiinna ku soo dego dhiiggii xaqa ahaa oo dhulka ku daatay oo dhan oo laga bilaabo dhiigga Haabiil kii xaqa ahaa ilaa dhiigga Sakariyas ina Barakiyas kan aad ku disheen meesha quduuska ah iyo meeshii allabariga dhexdooda. 36 Runtii waxaan idinku leeyahay, Waxyaalahan oo dhan ayaa qarnigan ku dul degi doona.

A Warning Against Hypocrisy(A)(B)
23 Then Jesus said to the crowds and to his disciples: 2 “The teachers of the law(C) and the Pharisees sit in Moses’ seat. 3 So you must be careful to do everything they tell you. But do not do what they do, for they do not practice what they preach. 4 They tie up heavy, cumbersome loads and put them on other people’s shoulders, but they themselves are not willing to lift a finger to move them.(D)
5 “Everything they do is done for people to see:(E) They make their phylacteries[a](F) wide and the tassels on their garments(G) long; 6 they love the place of honor at banquets and the most important seats in the synagogues;(H) 7 they love to be greeted with respect in the marketplaces and to be called ‘Rabbi’ by others.(I)
8 “But you are not to be called ‘Rabbi,’ for you have one Teacher, and you are all brothers. 9 And do not call anyone on earth ‘father,’ for you have one Father,(J) and he is in heaven. 10 Nor are you to be called instructors, for you have one Instructor, the Messiah. 11 The greatest among you will be your servant.(K) 12 For those who exalt themselves will be humbled, and those who humble themselves will be exalted.(L)
Seven Woes on the Teachers of the Law and the Pharisees
13 “Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites!(M) You shut the door of the kingdom of heaven in people’s faces. You yourselves do not enter, nor will you let those enter who are trying to.(N) [14] [b]
15 “Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You travel over land and sea to win a single convert,(O) and when you have succeeded, you make them twice as much a child of hell(P) as you are.
16 “Woe to you, blind guides!(Q) You say, ‘If anyone swears by the temple, it means nothing; but anyone who swears by the gold of the temple is bound by that oath.’(R) 17 You blind fools! Which is greater: the gold, or the temple that makes the gold sacred?(S) 18 You also say, ‘If anyone swears by the altar, it means nothing; but anyone who swears by the gift on the altar is bound by that oath.’ 19 You blind men! Which is greater: the gift, or the altar that makes the gift sacred?(T) 20 Therefore, anyone who swears by the altar swears by it and by everything on it. 21 And anyone who swears by the temple swears by it and by the one who dwells(U) in it. 22 And anyone who swears by heaven swears by God’s throne and by the one who sits on it.(V)
23 “Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You give a tenth(W) of your spices—mint, dill and cumin. But you have neglected the more important matters of the law—justice, mercy and faithfulness.(X) You should have practiced the latter, without neglecting the former. 24 You blind guides!(Y) You strain out a gnat but swallow a camel.
25 “Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You clean the outside of the cup and dish,(Z) but inside they are full of greed and self-indulgence.(AA) 26 Blind Pharisee! First clean the inside of the cup and dish, and then the outside also will be clean.
27 “Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You are like whitewashed tombs,(AB) which look beautiful on the outside but on the inside are full of the bones of the dead and everything unclean. 28 In the same way, on the outside you appear to people as righteous but on the inside you are full of hypocrisy and wickedness.
29 “Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You build tombs for the prophets(AC) and decorate the graves of the righteous. 30 And you say, ‘If we had lived in the days of our ancestors, we would not have taken part with them in shedding the blood of the prophets.’ 31 So you testify against yourselves that you are the descendants of those who murdered the prophets.(AD) 32 Go ahead, then, and complete(AE) what your ancestors started!(AF)
33 “You snakes! You brood of vipers!(AG) How will you escape being condemned to hell?(AH) 34 Therefore I am sending you prophets and sages and teachers. Some of them you will kill and crucify;(AI) others you will flog in your synagogues(AJ) and pursue from town to town.(AK) 35 And so upon you will come all the righteous blood that has been shed on earth, from the blood of righteous Abel(AL) to the blood of Zechariah son of Berekiah,(AM) whom you murdered between the temple and the altar.(AN) 36 Truly I tell you, all this will come on this generation.(AO)

38 As he taught, Jesus said, “Watch out for the teachers of the law. They like to walk around in flowing robes and be greeted with respect in the marketplaces, 39 and have the most important seats in the synagogues and the places of honor at banquets.(A) 40 They devour widows’ houses and for a show make lengthy prayers. These men will be punished most severely.”

Waxaad lahaydeen inaad waxan samaysaan oo aydnaan kuwa kale dhaafin. 43 Waa idiin hoog, Farrisiin yahay, waayo, waxaad jeceshihiin kursiyada hore oo sunagogyada, iyo salaanta suuqa. 44 Waa idiin hoog, waayo, waxaad tihiin sida xabaalo aan muuqanaynin; nimanka dul marayaana aanay garanaynin.

Runtii, waxaan idinku leeyahay, Qarnigan ayaa la weyddiin doonaa. 52 Waa idiin hoog, sharciga sheegayaal yahow, waayo, furihii garashada ayaad qaaddeen. Idinka qudhiinnu ma gelin, oo kuwii gelayayna ayaad ka hor joogsateen.
53 Oo kolkuu meeshaas ka baxay, culimmada iyo Farrisiintu waxay bilaabeen inay aad ugu dhirfaan iyo inay wax badan kaga hadlisiiyaan, 54 iyagoo gaadaya inay ku qabtaan wixii afkiisa ka soo baxa.

Woes on the Pharisees and the Experts in the Law
37 When Jesus had finished speaking, a Pharisee invited him to eat with him; so he went in and reclined at the table.(A) 38 But the Pharisee was surprised when he noticed that Jesus did not first wash before the meal.(B)
39 Then the Lord(C) said to him, “Now then, you Pharisees clean the outside of the cup and dish, but inside you are full of greed and wickedness.(D) 40 You foolish people!(E) Did not the one who made the outside make the inside also? 41 But now as for what is inside you—be generous to the poor,(F) and everything will be clean for you.(G)
42 “Woe to you Pharisees, because you give God a tenth(H) of your mint, rue and all other kinds of garden herbs, but you neglect justice and the love of God.(I) You should have practiced the latter without leaving the former undone.(J)
43 “Woe to you Pharisees, because you love the most important seats in the synagogues and respectful greetings in the marketplaces.(K)
44 “Woe to you, because you are like unmarked graves,(L) which people walk over without knowing it.”
45 One of the experts in the law(M) answered him, “Teacher, when you say these things, you insult us also.”
46 Jesus replied, “And you experts in the law, woe to you, because you load people down with burdens they can hardly carry, and you yourselves will not lift one finger to help them.(N)
47 “Woe to you, because you build tombs for the prophets, and it was your ancestors who killed them. 48 So you testify that you approve of what your ancestors did; they killed the prophets, and you build their tombs.(O) 49 Because of this, God in his wisdom(P) said, ‘I will send them prophets and apostles, some of whom they will kill and others they will persecute.’(Q) 50 Therefore this generation will be held responsible for the blood of all the prophets that has been shed since the beginning of the world, 51 from the blood of Abel(R) to the blood of Zechariah,(S) who was killed between the altar and the sanctuary. Yes, I tell you, this generation will be held responsible for it all.(T)
52 “Woe to you experts in the law, because you have taken away the key to knowledge. You yourselves have not entered, and you have hindered those who were entering.”(U)
53 When Jesus went outside, the Pharisees and the teachers of the law began to oppose him fiercely and to besiege him with questions, 54 waiting to catch him in something he might say.(V)
