Good News Translation
3 (A)Jesus answered, “Have you never read what David did that time when he and his men were hungry? 4 (B)He went into the house of God, and he and his men ate the bread offered to God, even though it was against the Law for them to eat it—only the priests were allowed to eat that bread. 5 (C)Or have you not read in the Law of Moses that every Sabbath the priests in the Temple actually break the Sabbath law, yet they are not guilty?

3 He answered, “Haven’t you read what David did when he and his companions were hungry?(A) 4 He entered the house of God, and he and his companions ate the consecrated bread—which was not lawful for them to do, but only for the priests.(B) 5 Or haven’t you read in the Law that the priests on Sabbath duty in the temple desecrate the Sabbath(C) and yet are innocent?
