¹⁴ That what was spoken by the prophet Isaiah might be brought to pass:

¹⁵ The land of Zebulun and the land of Naphtali, in the ^[a]way to the sea, beyond the Jordan, Galilee of the Gentiles [of the ^[b]peoples who are not of Israel]—^(A)

¹⁶ The people who sat ^[c](dwelt enveloped) in darkness have seen a great Light, and for those who sat in the land and shadow of death Light has dawned.
