Proverbs 14:20-22

²⁰¶ The poor is hated even of his own neighbour, but many are those who love the rich.

²¹¶ The sinner despises his neighbour, but he that has mercy on the poor is blessed.

²²¶ Do they not err that meditate upon evil? but those that meditate upon good shall attain mercy and truth.

²⁰The poor are shunned even by their neighbors,
but the rich have many friends.^(A)

²¹It is a sin to despise one’s neighbor,^(B)
but blessed is the one who is kind to the needy.^(C)

²²Do not those who plot evil go astray?^(D)
But those who plan what is good find^[a] love and faithfulness.
