Proverbs 22:11-13

¹¹He who values grace and truth is the king’s friend.

¹²The Lord preserves the upright but ruins the plans^[a] of the wicked.

¹³The lazy man is full of excuses. “I can’t go to work!” he says. “If I go outside, I might meet a lion in the street and be killed!”

Proverbs 22:11-13

New International Version

¹¹One who loves a pure heart and who speaks with grace
will have the king for a friend.^(A)

¹²The eyes of the Lord keep watch over knowledge,
but he frustrates the words of the unfaithful.

¹³The sluggard says, “There’s a lion outside!^(B)
I’ll be killed in the public square!”
