My soul thirsts(A) for God, for the living God.(B)
    When can I go(C) and meet with God?
My tears(D) have been my food
    day and night,
while people say to me all day long,
    “Where is your God?”(E)
These things I remember
    as I pour out my soul:(F)
how I used to go to the house of God(G)
    under the protection of the Mighty One[a]
with shouts of joy(H) and praise(I)
    among the festive throng.(J)

Why, my soul, are you downcast?(K)
    Why so disturbed(L) within me?
Put your hope in God,(M)
    for I will yet praise(N) him,
    my Savior(O) and my God.(P)

My soul is downcast within me;
    therefore I will remember(Q) you
from the land of the Jordan,(R)
    the heights of Hermon(S)—from Mount Mizar.
