21 Veisuunjohtajalle; Daavidin virsi.
2 Herra, sinun voimastasi kuningas iloitsee; kuinka suuresti hän riemuitseekaan sinun avustasi!
3 Mitä hänen sydämensä halasi, sen sinä hänelle annoit, et kieltänyt, mitä hänen huulensa anoivat. Sela.
4 Sinä suot hänelle onnen ja siunauksen, panet hänen päähänsä kultaisen kruunun.
5 Hän anoi sinulta elämää, sen sinä hänelle annoit: iän pitkän, ainaisen, iankaikkisen.
6 Suuri on hänen kunniansa, kun sinä häntä autoit; sinä peität hänet loistolla ja kirkkaudella.
7 Sillä sinä asetat hänet suureksi siunaukseksi ikuisiin aikoihin asti; sinä ilahutat häntä riemulla kasvojesi edessä.
8 Sillä kuningas luottaa Herraan, ja Korkeimman armo tekee hänet horjumattomaksi.
9 Sinun kätesi saavuttaa kaikki sinun vihollisesi, sinun oikea kätesi saavuttaa sinun vihamiehesi.
10 Sinä panet heidät hehkumaan kuin pätsin, kun sinä kasvosi näytät; Herra nielee heidät vihassansa, tuli kuluttaa heidät.
11 Sinä hävität maan päältä heidän hedelmänsä ja heidän jälkeläisensä ihmislasten keskuudesta.
12 Vaikka he hankkivat pahaa sinua vastaan, miettivät juonia, eivät he mitään voi;

Psalm 21[a]
For the director of music. A psalm of David.
2 You have granted him his heart’s desire(C)
and have not withheld the request of his lips.[b]
3 You came to greet him with rich blessings
and placed a crown of pure gold(D) on his head.(E)
4 He asked you for life, and you gave it to him—
length of days, for ever and ever.(F)
5 Through the victories(G) you gave, his glory is great;
you have bestowed on him splendor and majesty.(H)
6 Surely you have granted him unending blessings
and made him glad with the joy(I) of your presence.(J)
7 For the king trusts in the Lord;(K)
through the unfailing love(L) of the Most High(M)
he will not be shaken.(N)
8 Your hand will lay hold(O) on all your enemies;
your right hand will seize your foes.
9 When you appear for battle,
you will burn them up as in a blazing furnace.
The Lord will swallow them up in his wrath,
and his fire will consume them.(P)
10 You will destroy their descendants from the earth,
their posterity from mankind.(Q)
11 Though they plot evil(R) against you
and devise wicked schemes,(S) they cannot succeed.
12 You will make them turn their backs(T)
when you aim at them with drawn bow.
