4 But what answer did God give Elijah? He said, “But I have left seven thousand people in Israel who have never bowed down before Baal.”[a] 5 It is the same now. There are a few people that God has chosen by his grace. 6 And if he chose them by grace, it is not for the things they have done. If they could be made God’s people by what they did, God’s gift of grace would not really be a gift.

4 And what was God’s answer to him? “I have reserved for myself seven thousand who have not bowed the knee to Baal.”[a](A) 5 So too, at the present time there is a remnant(B) chosen by grace.(C) 6 And if by grace, then it cannot be based on works;(D) if it were, grace would no longer be grace.
