1. General Exhortations to Growth (4:1-2)

Ethical instruction is given by the authority of the Lord through the apostles. The Thessalonians were already leading exemplary lives, but Paul urges them to continue on. The desire to please God is the natural expression of inward holiness (see 3:13).
