1. The parable of the sower (4:1-20)

This subsection has three parts: the parable, an interlude on the secret of the kingdom, and the interpretation of the parable. These speak with one voice, proclaiming the necessity of hearing the Word and producing fruit. The secret of the kingdom of God must be understood against the backdrop of Jesus' person and ministry: in him, the kingdom of God has begun to penetrate the world.
