2. Relationship Between Older and Younger (5:1-2)

Using the illustration of a family, Paul commands Timothy to treat older men as fathers, younger men as brothers, older women as mothers, and younger women as sisters. Harsh rebuke creates resistance, especially when done to an elder by a younger person (v.1). V.2 reminds us that purity in relationships with the opposite sex is essential for the believer.
