Am 5:1-9:6 closes with the doxology in 9:5-6. The language of death and mourning is reaffirmed as Yahweh is praised for shaking the earth, like the rising and falling of the Nile (9:5; cf. 8:8; 9:1). But it becomes clear that this Yahweh who sends death is the Creator who establishes his dwelling in the heavens, creates the earth, and controls the life-giving and destructive waters (9:6).
