3. Imperfections that disqualify one from serving as a priest (21:16-24)

The descendants of Aaron are set apart for priestly service. But those with a bodily defect are not to conduct a sacrifice, though by virtue of their birth they may eat the food allotted the priests (v.22). The disqualification of persons with bodily defects is based on the concept of wholeness as a witness to holiness.
