3. Resurrection (11:38-44)

After all that had passed between them (vv.21-27), Martha still did not expect Jesus to perform a miracle, and she offered resistance to his command to unseal the tomb (vv.38-39). But a miracle was about to be performed that would reveal the glory of God (v.40; cf. vv.4, 23, 25) and the dependence of Jesus on the Father (vv.41-42). At Jesus' call Lazarus appeared, alive and needing only to be set free of the grave clothes (vv.43-44).
