3. The offering of unacceptable sacrifices (22:17-33)

The main point is the prohibition against offering defective animals in the sacrifices. Specifically named as unacceptable are animals that are blind or injured and those with warts or sores (v.22). Castrated animals are also unfit for sacrifice (v.24). The reason that a sacrificial animal is to be whole is that it is an offering to the holy God, and only a valuable and flawless one is appropriate as an offering to him.
