How does one draw the circle around those to be treated with such respect? Who are Jesus' followers? Jesus gives no formal definition, but it is obvious that one’s behavior is key and that the benefit of the doubt goes to the unknown person. This is a message all heirs of Wesley do well to take seriously, for, even though Wesley was fond of speaking of doctrinal “essentials,” he emphatically taught the necessity of a faith working itself out in deeds of love.
