4. Feast of Weeks (23:15-22)

This festival marks the close of wheat harvest and the beginning of barley harvest and is to be observed fifty days after Firstfruits. Later the name would be changed to Pentecost in keeping with the fiftieth day (after Firstfruits) on which the festival was held. Two loaves made from the new grain and baked with yeast are to be offered to the Lord. In addition a burnt offering, a sin offering, and peace offerings are to be made. On the day that the Feast of Weeks is observed, a sacred assembly is to be held and no regular work is to be done.
